“Disappointed”
Reviewed 7 February 2011

I booked this hotel on last minute, and the photos they post, i believe, are a bit misleading.

The room was straight out of the 1980s. Everything was old and worn out. There really was no Wow factor in this hotel. You'd think with Surfers being overrun by hotels they'd try harder to attract clientelle.

Found food/beer in the hotel very over priced, even by hotel standards. Pool is okay, but nothing special.

We were meant to stay for one night but ended up changing our plans and we were glad as even after two nights we didn't want to leave. Imagine how hard it would have been after only one.

I had read previous reviews on this place suggesting that it was in need of some updating but I failed to see this fault. Everything looks rather comfy and modern. I'm glad to say that we were left alone by staff without being hassled to check out or having that knock on the door early morning by housekeeping staff. Although we did have a housekeeper check in on us on the morning of our check-out but they quickly apologised for disturbing us when I informed them of our actual intended check-out time (11am).

The only thing that lets this place down, and it can't be helped, is the location and the distance from all the attractions. We were fortunate enough to have hired a car upon our arrival at Brisbane airport. That was convenient as we went up to the center part of Surfers Paradise at night when public transport may have been a problem then Seaworld during the day which is quite a trip even by car.

We had a nice comfy room with a huge king bed and a balcony looking out towards the ocean. The bathroom was very nicely presented with marble everywhere. However, don't be fooled by the size of the spa, it's smaller than expected. It's meant to be a two person but they'd have to be two rather small people.

Food from room service was good especially the breakfast. That was huge.

my partner and i got a great deal on lastminute for 1 night. For what we payed the room was pretty good, we had a king dlx spa room. Room was a great size and bed huge, views great. We were a bit dissapointed about what was on offer though, especially regarding room service, really limited options and pretty well no options at all after 11pm. We tryed to order dessert and coffee and couldnt, for a the star rating i thougt this was pretty bad. Also no robes in the room and buffet breakfast altough there was a fantastic selection all of the food was stone cold. Im not fussy at all but i dont think id stay here again epecially if paying full price as dont feel that it is worth it. The fantastic staff and comfy bed were the highlights.

Stayed here on the 8/10 for two nights. We were on the 12th floor with a room facing the ocean. It had a balcony and corner spa. I got this deal on lastminute.com.au and was happy with what we had. The weather was horrible when were at the Gold coast so didnt enjoy the views very much as it was miserable and windy. You can also order pillows which is great as I like Latex pillows. The room was spacios but some of the decorations etc were outdated. The hotel needs new carpet and new painting. Location wise, we were located away from Cavil Ave and Jupiters etc we had to catch taxi's you could probably walk too but it was raining so we didnt walk.

If you dont mind being 5-10 mins away from central areas then this place is ok to stay. We had breakfast at the Four Winds revolving restuarant and also we had dinner. It was great- bit pricey but definately worth it if you love your seafood, asian based food. The deserts were lovely.

Overall, not a bad place but would probably rather stay somewhere else. Also no need to book transfers to theme parks there are bus stops infront of hotel and is cheap as!

Stayed at Crowne plaza for 2 nights with children.
Positives-
The pool was a good size, 1 was heated & nice spas.
Room service, nice & fast
Buffet breakfast was lovely
Easy walk to beach
Negatives-
Although the view was o.k, the balconies were tiny. (Room 1310)
The double beds were awful & hard, no-one slept well.
Pillow had blood on it.
Rooms were small.
Had to drive everywhere, not really close to anything but the beach.

This hotel looked like it catered more for business travellers rather than a family holiday.

My husband, small daughter and I stayed at the Gold Plaza overnight as a secret hotel deal for my birthday, and they didn't fail to impress! The rooms are just gorgeous and modern, especially the beautiful marble bathrooms. Our daughter loved using the in-room spa. The king sized bed was more than big enough to accommodate all 3 of us, and we were quite surprised to find a "pillow menu" on the bedside table as well. The view from the balcony of the ocean was fantastic. Our breakfast up at the Four Winds revolving restaurant was also an absolute pleasure, we felt spoilt eating all the goodies we did for breakfast. Definitely the 5 star treatment! The only downside was the location, having to call a taxi to travel to Surfers Paradise & back as the walking distance was too far. However there is a bus service outside which is a cheaper alternative for those who don't mind waiting around for one. Would love to stay there again one day!

This hotel looks tired and worn and is existing now almost purely on specials and the lure of the Crown Plaza badge to some people. It is also poorly located, needing a cab both to Surfers and to Broadbeach.
