We went to La Rusticated for my Mums birthday last week.
It was a Saturday night they were busy and we had no problems getting served or waiting to long for our food. The service was prompt friendly and they made sure our champagne was well chilled and ice bucket was full.
We shared a kofta and dip platter for entrees both were very tasty and authentic and we all really enjoyed these dishes.
For mains we had some Italian and Turkish dishes I had a chicken shish which was very good. Healthy with a nice salad some marinated chicken and a good yogurt sauce I really enjoyed mine.
This was our second visit to La Rustica it is a good option for a BYO meal in Surfers but I feel the price of meals is quite high but as it is BYO you save a bit on the drink side of the meal if you want to drink alcohol.

My husbnd found this Italian restaurant online and decided to give it a try on our first night in Gold Coast. The restaurant, I find is simple and quite easy to find. What amazed me most is the pasta! We had a bruschetta (fantastic flavours!!!), a pizza & tortellini (the taste of this delicious dish still lingers in my mind). The service was great with both the male n female servers checking back on us if everything was alright.

The next day, we decided to head back and try out the other pastas. We got ourselves spaghetti marinara. Seafood was cooked just right and the flavour was fantastic.

I highly recommend both the pasta dishes and the bruschetta. Portion of the pasta is quite big (compared to the portion I get in Singapore), its enough for two small eaters.

Will definitely recommend this reataurants to anyone who wants to enjoy great, delicious, flavourful Italian meal!

my husband and i had one night down the coast for our baby moon before our second child arrives next week. we were so looking forward to a lovely night in a hotel, dinner and a relaxing couple of days of peace and quiet...

we looked up urbanspoon & tripadvisor to find somewhere for our special dinner and la rustica came up on both sites as top notch, highly recommended, best italian on the coast etc.

i'm not sure if we went to the wrong place or what happened (it was the same address, surely it was, we said to each other) but well, no no and no. what a terrible waste of a lovely evening - our one opportunity to have a gorgeous dinner together on our baby moon... in short...

1. the 'to die for' garlic bread had basically no flavour whatsoever, it was just a few bits of 'toast' with lots of butter & a sprinkling of parsley but absolutely no flavour of garlic

2. the haloumi (starter) was ok, though inconsistent in size and cooking level / flavour

3. the pizza (1/2 meatlovers, 1/2 la rustica classica) was ok - yes, just ok. the base was nice enough but my husband said his pizza lacked any amazing flavours and i ended up adding parmesan to mine as there just wasn't enough going on.

4. the service - the worst part of the whole night. i ended up sitting right outside (and facing) the kitchen, so i could see everything that was going on. the cook was generally busy, and the lady who ran the place was too, but there was a guy there that was just loitering most of the time. the lady kept forgetting to bring us what we'd asked for (our water, our wine etc) so had to be continually reminded; noone 'looked around' the restaurant to see if any customers needed assistance & the poor ladies that came in a while after us, ended up having to get up and ask someone to take their order. 30 minutes later, they were still sitting there with no food, no water, nothing on their table. terrible! the guy 'loitering' literally stood on his mobile phone texting, then turned around, picked up their pizza & took it to their table - goodness knows how long it had been sitting there for before he bothered to interrupt his social life to serve a customer!

all in all, an exceptionally disappointing experience and one we will definitely not be repeating - ever. i'm not sure how so many others had such great experiences but we well and truly did not - a terrible waste of an evening for a couple who have very little time together and who were on such a special occasion. feel very ripped off from the whole experience to be honest!

Friendly staff give us a good suggestion on choosing dishes. The home special pizza is really nice with a little bit spicy, which is recommended.

Looking for something with a bit of a difference on the Gold Coast. ...we were very tired of the basic restaurants and jumped at the chance for some traditional turkish food....entree of lamb kofta was sensational, shish kebabs beautiful and my 13yo son loved the traditional spag bol. Recommend booking via phone, email didn't work for us and nearly meant we missed a table.
