Description: This Gold Coast eatery features a range of authentic and well-priced Vietnamese, Thai and Chinese dishes on the extensive menu. Indecisive diners might want to turn their attention to the substantial list of chef's specials. The Chef, Hue Trieu, has worked in the restaurant business since her teenage years. Cooking is true passion for her. She learned and developed her cooking skills from her family's restaurant in Vietnam as well in different Chinese and Thai restaurants in Germany. In 1993 She and her husband set up their first restaurant in Geelong, also named New Saigon and then the second one named Hi Hi restaurant, both were successful. Deeply impressed by Gold Coast's lovely weather and lifestyle, She and her family moved to Gold Coast in 2003 initially for early retirement but only 1 year later she missed the hospitality scene so much, so they decided to open New Saigon Restaurant in Gold Coast in April 2004. Although the position is not really ideal for a restaurant but thanks to the good support of regular local customers as well casual tourists, New Saigon Restaurant has established itself as a good place for authentic Vietnamese and Asian foods on the Coast.

I eat here at least once or twice a week. The Vietnamese choices will never disappoint, I love the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup and the Vermicelli Noodle dishes. Quality of food is always very consistent and delicious! If you love real Vietnamese food then you will love this restaurant. Please don't pass this little restaurant up!

The food is absolutely delicious. I have traveled through Vietnam and also try every Vietnamese restaurant within traveling distance from home, and the food at New Saigon was up there with the best I've ever had. Down side is you will have to be very patient, service is slow.

Arriving with 3 kids, 3 adults by cab from Cavill Ave (approx $15), we found a seat pretty easily inside.

The decor is basic. The food choice large. The service minimal.

It seemed like there was only the chef and 1 guy taking orders and waiting tables........service was slow. The place wasn't packed either.

Food was good and we ordered a fair amount. The bill came to$230 (beer and wine inc) but as I said 3 kids included.....so maybe a tad steep.

Go if you like the food but there could be more value based food around, especially if you get a taxi there and back.

We stumbled upon this homely restaurant by chance and we are glad we did. We looked at the menu and seemed reasonably priced so we gave it a try. At first glance, it did not impress as there were a few dirty tables that had not been cleared, but soon we realised it was just a SMALL family business (husband waits while wife cooks). Our fresh spring rolls look 9 mins and pho and salad took an additional 10 mins but the wait was worth it. The food was very VERY tasty and my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it to the point that we still spoke about it the next day!
