“Amazing inventive brunches”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2014

Great to find a cafe that mixes things up and isn't afraid to do something different from the standard egg dishes (though of course there are still eggs on the menu). The pancakes are probably the best I've ever had, so thick and delicious - last time they had a special with chocolate and raspberry sauce, chocolate ice-cream (no boring vanilla here!) and actual pieces of chocolate hidden between the pancakes. Super-yummy sugar overload :)

“Yum breakfast ”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 June 2014 via mobile

Food was delicious but surprisingly expensive. It was understaffed, we had to remind staff about order. Many uncleared tables gave a messy impression and we saw quite a few people come in and leave straight away because they couldn't find a cleared spot.

“Staff disinterested, price ott, quantity doesn't compensate for quality”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2014 via mobile

A random selection based on recommendations of locals.
After walking in and being ignored, we retrieved menus from another table and sat down. Across the room came a shout of 'our specials are on the blackboard over the counter'. No other approaches or assistance was available. After browsing through the laminated pages that are clipped together to form a menu, you reach the last line which announces that no modifications are permitted to menu items - always a great way to entice customers to eat at your cafe.
When going to front counter to place our order we were greeted with "Where are you sitting?" The continued friendliness and warmth of service did not stop there however a pause in what passed for normal was observed as drinks arrived within 10 minutes of placing order. This proved the highlight as slushie was very good (cafe avoided the trap of too much cranberry overpowering other flavours).
When food eventually arrived (delivered in fits and starts) with my dish carried across room to another table where it was shoved in a patrons face while other items were placed on table, this was unknown to serving person who did not pay any attention to her task.
This was when the business model for this cafe was shown in full - the plates were laden with enough food to serve two reasonable size meals each which could be considered a good outcome as the price of each meal is about the right amount for 2 poor quality dishes at most other cafés. The meals themselves were uninspired with limited flavour, too much garnish and, as observed in other reviews, cheap quality ingredients (tip for cafe - please refer to guacamole as straight from the tube because it wasn't fresh or homemade).
Luckily we had paid for plenty of parking as the meals took the best part of an hour to be made (on average 5 tables were occupied entire time in cafe so no excuses for being super busy).
With no one finishing any of the dishes in front of us, we got ready to leave. We found this difficult as chairs, strollers and other obstacles were allowed to be placed in access ways. This did include a random 5 yr old who had got bored waiting for his parents to receive and finish their meals so had smashed the pepper grinder into the tables, tipped everything on table (including drinks which staff made no effort to assist table occupants clean up) and then been let loose to rampage between tables.
Overall, there will be no chance of returning or recommending to others as the service was worse than poor, the quality of food was poor, the prices did not represent value despite the serving of good quality drinks. Would suggest people try elsewhere in the city centre as many options are now present.

“Fantastic food, eclectic menu”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2014

Have had breakfast here several times and the food has been amazing each time. A little on the pricey side and very cramped but well worth it for the quality of the food. Expect to have to wait up to half an hour for a table if you don't arrive early for weekend breakfast- it's very popular but also very small. Menu changes regularly so it's worth going back again & again. I'm not usually one to photograph my meal but I couldn't resist showing my friends the amazing waffle stack that turned up!

“Out of place in Townsville”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 May 2014

Came to this place for a Saturday brunch in Townsville while down for a weekend. It is inconspicuously located in the city and draws comparisons to a Melbourne Cafe, with an interesting internal decor. The first thing you will notice on entering is that the place is packed with people most of which are taking 'instaselfies' of their food - as it is has gained a reputation in the rather dim Townsville area as 'the' place for brunch. Most things on the menu seem maybe slightly more expensive at around 20ish dollars but the servings are huge (will carry you until dinner) and the taste delicious. The service is a little slow and dingy, although this is likely related to the fact it is so busy. Overall I would definitely recommend it to others although don't come if you are too time constrained.
