I stayed here for 3 nights. It's a quick trip on the resort ferry from Cairns. Check in was fast and efficient. I had reserved a studio which was of an ok size but it looked at the back of the property which had a big hill and thus allowed very little daylight in. So I went back to reception to discuss upgrades. All that was available was a beach cabin so I took it.
The cabin was down on the beach and the view was spectacular especially as it gets wonderful sunsets. The cabin is quite large - it has a king bed in the main room then 2 twin beds. Unfortunately if you are sharing, this is awkward as you have to go through the area where the king bed is to leave or go to the bathroom. This was ok for me as I was on my own. The bathroom could use some serious work. The faucet on the sink was loose and kept moving. There was rust around the base. The shower didnt have anywhere to put a bar of soap. There had been something there but it was very obviously missing. The grout around the bottom was very old and needed a good clean. This was similar to issues in the first room i had so i think all bathrooms need an upgrade. One bathroom light didn't work and I had to ask three times over three days for it to get fixed which it did on my last night. Also on my last night neighbours moved in next door which made me realize that the walls are quite thin as I could hear their tv and walking around. Sadly there is no kitchenette in the cabin even though there is plenty of room.
The pool area is nice but people grab seats very early leaving towels on them but never show most of the day which is annoying. The beaches are nice but the public also uses them. There are alsi some nice walking tracks around the island as well. The restaurants are ok as well.
Overall, the resort is ok but needs to be updated. The lack of attention to detail the owners have really shows. It's a shame but they are the only resort on the island. I think a bit of inveatmebt could make this a 4 or 5 star but it is only 3 star in my opinion.
