We stayed in villa 601, the first to stay after the villa had been renovated. The 2 room villa with full new kitchen, bathroom and floor coverings was fantastic, very modern and very clean. It had everything we needed including a pod coffee machine. It was close to all resort facilities, which were also great, we spent some time in the swimming pools, ( pools great, top pool very family friendly) went stand up paddle-boarding on the beautiful glassy blue ocean, did some fishing off the pier, had a good meal at the restaurant. We found the staff friendly and helpful even though they appeared very busy. Over all had a great stay, Fraser Island is our favorite holiday spot. The Island has so much to see and do.

Being away from the cities allowed us to enjoy nature and immerse ourselves in the environment. We wanted a relaxing weekend and had just that. We did what we wanted - no pressure from resort to join in anything. The Staff were fantastic always helpful with our questions on what to see and do. We had lovely relaxed meals. The Creeks on the island and Lake McKenzie are crystal clear and absolutely stunning. We will be back for longer next time.
Thank you for a wonderful stay in paradise.

Room Tip: We had a resort room with a lovely natural bush outlook, which brought lots of lovely birds around.

We stayed in a seaview r We We stayed in a seaview room and the views were spectacular. So relaxing to sit on balcony . All the staff were very helpful, pleasant and always smiling. We had dinner in Maheno restaurant and the food was beautiful. Loved the spa and the pools. The ranger walks were very informative and a great experience. Wish we could have stayed longer but glad we had the opportunity to visit to Kingfisher bay resort.

Great activities with enthusiastic guides and a hearty breakfast which can keep you fed until evening. Only negative is the poor soundproofing between rooms. A stunning location you can walk the beaches and walk to the fresh water lake. Love the dingoes!

Room Tip: We had to change rooms due to neighbor noise, this was not a hassle.

No really, our luggage was going to be lost in paradise. I was sure of it. No real set way of loading and unloading luggage. No tags, no assistance. But, alas, we found our luggage at the other end. The fine dining restaurant was a little disappointing. I don't think you can pour truffle oil over peas and call it fine dining. But wine fixed that. It was our anniversary. So there were good points. The service from most of the staff was friendly, if not a little stuffy. Room with a view... great. A lot of steps, did not help my hip. But worth the walk. Could be improved, but still enjoyable.

Room Tip: Over look the Barge trip.... you will get there and back and if you are lucky your car will remain u...

Dear martin w
Thanks for taking the time to post and for your four star rating - we appreciate your time and, on behalf of the team wish you a belated Happy Anniversary.

We wanted to take this opportunity to remind all guests with dietary requirement or mobility issues to flag this at the time of booking with our Reservations team (or, if you book with a third party, email us and let us know) - this will help us when it comes to allocating rooms.

We invite you to contact us on feedback@kingfisherbay.com re your luggage comments (please mention this review) so we can follow up. House guests arriving on our 0900, 1230, 1530 and 1845 ferries check in at mainland reception where luggage is weighed, tagged and transported onto a waiting luggage truck. This truck is driven on to the ferry and off at the other end by the resort porter team who deliver bags to rooms. For departing guests, bag tags (with ferry departure times) are delivered to hotel rooms. Luggage is placed in our storage room (in sections that are divided by ferry times); and delivered by the truck back to the mainland.

My partner & I didn't stay here, we were staying in Hervey Bay & went to the resort for a dinner cruise that was $60 each which included all transfers too & from the hotel & a seafood platter each. We organized this through an information centre. We caught a bus from Hervey Bay to the barge & our bus drivers name was Collin. He was a really nice man & made the bus trip quite entertaining by telling us a few things about the bay & Fraser. We caught a barge across to the resort which left at 3.30 & got to the resort at 4.15. We didnt know what to expect as we had never been there before. We knew there were pools there but we didn't take our togs because we thought being a resort they would have a games room or something to entertain us. Dinner was not until 6pm & when we got there it was stinking hot. Being an Eco resort it doesn't have air conditioning & there was nothing at all for us to do. So at that point we wished we bought our togs. So instead we just had a drink by the pool until it was dinner time. Which was relaxing but quite boring. The bar where we got the drink from was near the Maheno restaurant & it wasn't nice. The bar top was sticky & the drinks were overpriced. I ordered a $10 cocktail. I have worked in cocktail bars before & the guy didnt know how to make the cocktail it had too much ice in it which watered it down & it tasted like crap. I was very disappointed for the price I paid. The heat really got to us & made the experience uncomfortable. I used the main toilets across from the seabelle restaurant & they were just disgusting. They smelt like urine & looked very old. It needs a fresh coat of paint & obviously cleaned more regularly!
We had dinner at around 6 it came out fast & the staff were very nice! The lady kept on top of replacing our waste bowl for all our shells which was good. I must say the seafood was amazing best seafood I have eaten! It was just fresh & divine! We were so full after that & had to sit around until 8.30 when the barge was leaving. We decided to have dessert. My partner had sticky date which was supposed to come with ice cream & didn't. I had the sorbet trio. The flavours were beautiful but both were way over priced for what we got on the plate. We then sat around for a bit more with nothing to do & caught the barge back to the bay. Our bus driver Collin was there to meet us & took us back to our resort. Once again we had a great conversation with him & he dropped us off as close as he could get to the resort so we didn't have to walk too far! Overall the food was the best part of our experience but we would never stay at the resort!

Dear teaganleah
Thank you for taking the time to post in this forum and for your kind comments regarding your driver, Colin and the amazing seafood you experienced on your summer dinner cruise.

It's disappointing however to read that you felt there was nothing to do on arrival at the resort. We run a comprehensive resort activity program (all year around) that involves ranger-guided walks and talks; we offer Segway sessions for guests on the beach front and fishing clinics for guests.

The Jetty Hut (located right on the western beach) is a very popular spot for guests to sit and enjoy a tipple and watch the sun set over the Great Sandy Strait; we have fishing rod hire and canoes available for hire from the Jetty Hut. Guests are also welcome to use the resort pools (or swim in the Great Sandy Strait); to visit our day spa (additional costs involved); visit Peter Meyer's art gallery and to take advantage of the many self-guided walks we have in and around the resort - including to McKenzie's Jetty.

For Dinner Cruise guests travelling with children, we also offer a Junior Eco Rangers program on Friday and Saturday nights and school holidays, which sees kinds off pond hopping, animal tracking and star gazing whilst their parents enjoy dinner. Dinner is included.

Constructive feedback is important and has been shared with the team. We are certainly pleased to read that you thoroughly enjoyed your dinner and that Colin looked after you on your return to the mainland.
