“Overrated...”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Fraser Island is fantatic! Really the coolest place of the East Coast I found personally.

But Lake McKenzie I thought was overrated. It definitely is nice, but not so special. Lake Wabby was nicer to me, I thought. But the white sand at Lake McKenzie is very special indeed. It's the same as on the Whithaven Beach on the Whitsunday Islands. (Lake Birrabeen looks just like Lake McKenzie but has way less tourists for instance)

But if you can, try to visit some other places on Fraser aswell, such as Lake Wabby, Eli's Creek, etc.

Anyhow, you'll enjoy Fraser!

“Stunning”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

Fab place, beautiful lake, def worth a visit. Easy parking, toilets too. A lovely place for a swim. Wasn't too busy when we went, which was early morning. I would imagine that in the high season it could get busy though, but it's worth it.

“Natural beauty therapy”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

If you're looking for a clear lake to swim in, sunbath at, with little turtles and sand that you can use as exfoliant for skin and hair (seriously!) - that's the place to go!

“Beautiful and strange”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

This was a sacred place for the aboriginal people and you'll see why. It's really quite a journey through rough, rough tracks which are challenging even in a real 4WD, but it's well worth it.
