This beautiful beach retreat is remote from other developments on Great Keppel, surrounded by natural bush and forest and nestled into artistic gardens alive with birds. The safari tent accommodation is very comfortable, with a romantic bush shower along the path. The open kitchen looks straight out to the beach and bay, well equipped and most convivial. Great walking tracks wind through the bush to secluded bays with excellent snorkelling and coral. Our hosts, Lyndie and Carl were very welcoming. We felt privileged to share their carefully nurtured paradise.

This was one of the best places my boyfriend and I have ever visited. We have travelled a lot all over the world and I have to say that that Svendsens was paradise. Lindie and Carl our hosts were perfect and have the most beautiful home. They live on the other side of Keppel island to anyone so we did not see anyone for 3 whole days!! We had the beach and facilities to ourselves and all the surrounding walking tracks and bays were also amazing. Wonderful hosts, accommodation and surroundings. We will definitely be returning to this slice of heaven!

Lovely setup a stone's throw from the beach. Best accommodation on Great Keppel for access to wonderful walking tracks and beaches. The couple that run the place are particularly welcoming and the whole stay was extremely relaxing and pleasant.

We visited Carl and Lyndie already second time this year Easter and we still dont have enough and need to come back.
It's just a magical spot - the island, the views, the tracks taken care off by the two of them, simply great.
The eco friendly tents are comfortable, the kitchen next to the beach is a special place and just the feeling when you wake up in the morning by the sound of the sea and kookaburras let you forget any day-to-day stress.
Simply a recommendation for everyone who likes a secret paradise off the usual places.

We visited Lyndie and Carl's glamping set-up at Svendsen's beach for three days as part of 1 month on the east coast of Australia. We were lucky in that we had perfect weather for mid-December, hot but not too humid. This was a perfect place to have a holiday. From the moment we were collected by Lyndie in her little boat, we felt privileged to be able to share this very special part of the world. We were surrounded by the sounds of the islands and its wildlife. The kitchen, shower and sleeping accommodation were all fantastic and well thought through. You can be as active or relaxed as you want with kayaks to use and incredible snorkelling. One day we spent viewing the intricacies of soft and hard corals and the beautiful fish around them and then changed scale at night viewing the night sky through Carl's telescope (thank you). The whole family thought Svendsen's beach was the highlight of our holiday in Australia and we have had a fantastic time where ever we went. This would be a great romantic getaway but equally worked superbly for our family of 4 (kids 12 and 15). We snorkelled with Stinger suits just in case (as December) but never saw a jelly fish, equally no one saw us on the many deserted beaches! Fantastic.

After spending the last 20 years living and travelling throughout Europe it makes me so happy to know that we have it best right here on our doorstep. Although our stay was short - just a few days - we stepped into a relaxed, island mode as soon as we were on Lyndie's little taxi-boat. We are quite active so spent our time more energetically than most. We walked the 9 kms to the lighthouse, but then had sundowners on the beach with Lyndie and Erica, had an early morning rise with Carl (we wanted to see Jupiter's moons), snoozed on the deck all the while keeping a track of the special wiildlife (butterfly groves, little nemos, beach curlews, turtles, baby possums and of course, the special GKI goats).
Lyndie and Carl put the island and its animals first and you feel very much like a special guest in a very special location. They are true to the island and if you are looking for a remote island getaway where your hardest decision is which private bay you should settle for, then this is the place. We'll be back before the new year!

Room Tip: Toss a coin for the best view!

Have visited this amazing place several times each year for the past ten years. The accommodation and setting is truly Eco-friendly and close to nature. I enjoy the peace and serenity, walks along the many beaches, and bushwalking the many tracks with nobody in sight. Fantastic snorkelling and kayaking. The sunsets are breathtaking! Great camp setup with hot showers and kitchen facilities, flushing toilet and stunning gardens. Wow!!!

Room Tip: The studio is great if you are a couple who like to be away from other guests (never many anyway) or...
