Tonight was our first night on Hamilton Island & after a really long day, being awake since 4.30am we chose our closest option which was Sails Restaurant. Great choice! Greeted by a fabulous front-of-house staff member, we were shown to an outside table near the floodlit pool. Lighting was a bit dim but we were still happy with our table.
We were advised that it was counter service, rather than table service, which I had mixed feelings about. On the plus side, that means you place your food & drinks orders when you are ready & as often as you want to, not needing to rely on possibly over-worked and busy or maybe inefficient staff. On the minus side, as my husband pointed out, leaving a date behind on their own to place orders several times during the evening is not a good thing.
Our oysters natural & Kilpatrick entrees were lovely & fresh and our mains of eye fillet, served a teensy bit on the rare side of the requested medium, which was upgraded with garlic prawns and Thai Yellow Curry with tiger prawns, Moreton bay bugs and fish with rice were great!!
But still no Victorian beer available!!! A huge proportion of Hamilton Island visitors are from Victoria but there is no Crown lager, Carlton Draught or VB to be found on the island!!
