Our evening at the Beach Club Restaurant got off to a good start when we were invited to take off our shoes. Walking barefoot across the sand of Catseye Beach, we were led to a table facing the water just as the sun was setting. What followed was a delightful 'Water's Edge' degustation meal. We were one of three couples dining on the beach, which provided just enough company and quiet murmur to make it an intimate but not silently creepy experience. As the stars came out and the tide came in, the night became all the more special.
The food was delightful - a well-presented and balanced set of dishes, well paced and full of contrasts. Dining in the darkness and guessing the ingredients was half the fun. The service was attentive and friendly but not overbearing. The only disappointment was the use of LED candles on our table, which was a jarring note of artificiality in such a pleasant natural setting.
Tip: bring something warm to wear, as the wind can make things a little chilly as the evening goes on.
