Just a beautiful spot to hang out. Since Hamilton Island is basically split into two - the resorts or the marina - you will eventually end up here. Great spot to enjoy meals with a view over the marina, or just to stock up on supplies.

“Lovely to look at, expensive to buy”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

There are 2 main areas of 'town' on the island: the resort side on Catseye beach (home to the main Reef View hotel, Beach club, conference centre, mini golf, spa, etc) and the marina side. It is here in the marina area that the main everyday shops are. The 2 areas are seperated by a short walk up a small hill.

It is a stunning location, you have the marina on one side with it's bright blue water, and the shops on the other side. There are not too many shops, maintaining a small island atmosphere, but they include the general store (small grocery store), bakery, restaurants, bathers and island wear shops, newsagents, post office, bottle shop, fish and chips, and the tour companies. The only problem is, being an island, you are a captive audience and the prices reflect this. The other issue is, the island has clearly had some major work done, and the shops that are there, are all high-end shops (with the exception of 1 - Trader Petes, which is still $$$ - $10 for a magnet?!?!), so the prices were never going to be cheap to begin with.
But, if you are prepared to spend the money, it is a stunning area.

2 things to note:
1. everywhere from the marina is uphill, there are island buses but we travelled in a group of 8 and the bus was always full, able to fit only 2-3 on, so we had to use a buggy or walk.
2. Coles online deliver to the island, so if you have enough time, consider this as an option rather than buying from the general store ($2.50 per can of coke), but they cannot deliver alcohol, so you need to BYO or buy from the bottle shop

“Beautiful”

Beautiful setting to sit and have some lunch. It's busy and has a good buzz about it. Loved the shops there, as a village feel.

“Beautiful shops”

Did a small shop down there, good grocery store, bought some baiting shoes and everyone was friendly, ice cream delicious but expensive! $18 for two ice creams!

“Girls Gettaway”
Reviewed 30 June 2014 via mobile

My daughter and I have visited Hamilton Island frequently for 28 years. We know and love this destination.
We were basking in the late afternoon sun on the sundeck of The Hamilton Island Yacht Club soaking up the sensational view awaiting sunset, sipping champers. Of course we wanted something to nibble on with our drinks. We did not feel like a bucket of prawns or a fondue..what the???? Bring back the tapas ...what are you thinking...people WANT share plates...a trio of dips..cheese platter..sumptuous nibbles. .come on guys ...give people what they want.....dont let one of the most beautiful places on earth..... down by slipping up with the food. Thankyou.
