We went to Hamilton Island for the first time ever last November. The Reef View Hotel was a gorgeous venue with great service and fabulous bills. We will be back. Very clean with amazing views. We'd gone to celebrate our daughters 21st birthday as she worked on the Island. Beautiful dinning area with the pool right outside this area.

Room Tip: all room are fantastic looking over the water they even have glass lifts to you can see for miles

We had requested a twin room on a high floor and were delighted with our room on the 13th floor. The views over Catseye beach and the Whitsunday Islands was amazing. The balcony was large with chairs, coffee table and recliner. It was private, except for the dawn and dusk visits from the cockadoos! The room had 2 double beds, table and 2 chairs, 2 armchairs and coffee table and long desk/storage unit yet it was still roomy. There was an area for tea/coffee making / fridge. WiFi was available. The bathroom was equally large with 2 sink/vanity units, bath, separate shower enclosure and separate toilet. Plenty of fluffy bathroom towels and 2 beach towels each per provided daily. Housekeeping was efficient and the room and bathroom clean. (reading review about hygiene I always wash cups/glasses after use as, sad git that I am, I can't stand mess around and don't want to encourage unwanted 'critters').
Breakfast, included in the price we paid, could be taken in the hotel by the pool or at the nearby Wildlife centre. At the hotel buffet breakfast had plenty of hot dishes and salad and fruit options. We had breakfast at the Wildlife centre. The main attraction was the koalas nestling in the trees so this was popular with families but service and availability of some breakfast items was a bit chaotic.
There were several pools and plenty of sunbeds available. We preferred to use the (free) sunbeds on the beach.
Laundry facilities were available at 4 dollars per wash and 4 dollars per dryer.
The resort had free, frequent minibus services around the island so although the marina, with shops etc., was within easy walking distance, it was handy to hop on the bus.
Overall, really enjoyed our stay at the Reef View hotel.

Room Tip: Request a room on a high floor to get great views

The 4-star Reef View Hotel on Hamilton Island does what it says on the tin. It looks out onto the reef at Catseye Bay where at low tide you can see living coral exposed and the occasional stingray lurking in the shallows.
The hotel caters efficiently for large numbers of guests with a big heated swimming pool directly off the dining terrace. Good for young familes. (It was school holidays in parts of Aus, hence the number of children.) The unflappable staff are quick to bring high chairs and mop up spills while shooing away the coloured lorikeets which sometimes alight on the breakfast tables. The bedrooms are big and beds comfy. Housekeeping was a bit sloppy. The room was left half-serviced once and we had issues with the air con.
It was good value for money as we had 5 nights for the price of 4, but it was not quite the hotel we would ideally have chosen. However, there isn't much alternative on Hamilton Island unless you want a bungalow or can afford the exclusive Beach Club or 6-star resort.

Room Tip: Opt for a sea view. Choose a room at the end of a corridor away from the lifts. The corridors are op...

The hotel is very dated, the bathroom wasn't very clean, it had mould in the grout and there was so much soap scum in the shower. The tiles were stained with a orange colour. Have no idea what it was, the bath still felt and looked dirty, and there was marks all over tiles.

The chair had stains on it and the bed sheets had some stains too.

Had a amazing view but over all I think I could have cleaned the room better myself. Could be nice if the rooms were cleaned better.

Dear madimoore.

Please accept my thanks for reviewing your recent stay here with us.

Suffice to say, I was disappointed, as it appears we have missed the mark in a particular area during your stay.

I am naturally concerned by the lack of professionalism show by my staff and the uncharacteristic issue have raised. I highly appreciate you bringing this to my attention and shall investigate personally.

Loved it. Large rooms.good bathroom. Great view. Good service. Perfect location. Nothing to complain about. Consistently happy with this hotel. Stayed in a pool view room that looked out over the water. Would have liked a stovetop but I guess you're supposed to eat at the restaurant. Awesome place. I do recommend.

Our group of 121 senior citizens spent a fabulous week in June in the Whitsundays staying at the Reef View Hotel. The service was outstanding. The buffet breakfast was great. The use of a buggy for two days for each room gave us the opportunity to explore Hamilton Island in detail. A Cruise Whitsundays Catamaran took us to Reef World on the outer edges of the Great Barrier Reef. We also spent half a day exploring Heritage listed Whitehaven Beach on Whitsunday Island. A special day was our visit to Day Dream Island with a buffet lunch in the Waterfalls Restaurant. As we were a religious group we were pleased for the opportunity extended to us by Hamilton Island management to allow us the use of the White Chapel on One Tree Hill for 2 special Services. It was an interest packed, restful holiday enjoyed immensely by all who participated. Thanks also to Jet Star who flew our group from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

Room Tip: A Sea View Room from floor 12 upward. Fantastic views over Catseye Beach. Frequent visitors to the b...

We were suggested this island by a travel agent who told us it was the best for families, but on arrival we found the staff across the island rude and unhelpful. Also once on the island you can only eat and stay at a few places as most places do not accept children! And all that is left are resturants that charge $30 - $40 for a main that my 10yr old sun could put up!
We were told that kids eat free on the island as this was true, they don't get an option of what they have and there meal you would only expect to pay $10 for anywhere else.
As for the facilities on the island they were not as good as our caravan parks back at cannonvale!
Overall the island has a cheap and tacky feel and is in no way as nice as airlie beach (but costs four times as much).

Knowing what we know know I would of headed to one of the smaller islands.

Room Tip: Don't stay here look at Hayman island

Dear CR Far F

I am sorry to hear you weren’t able to enjoy your time here on Hamilton Island with us.

To briefly focus on your comments on our staff. This is certainly disappointing as it is very uncharacteristic of any team member and something I shall look into.

I have passed you feedback on to our Food & Beverage team and I thank you for taking the time to let us know.
