Stayed a couple of nights this week, views were amazing, location was great, and the service was fantastic. The rooms are a little dated inside but not too shabby, and the price was very good. Recommended.

We have just come back home after six nights at the Reef View Hotel and it was very comfortable. The room is showing signs of being a bit rough and dated but the cleaning staff did a good job every day, leaving lovely white towels and great amenities in the bathroom, the balcony floor should have been mopped every day as the birds come and sit on the furniture and leave little droppings on the floor every day!!
The beds in the room were so comfortable, loved the pillow top on the mattress. One night we were woken up with the sounds of people walking in the room above us, but the rest of the nights it was lovely and quiet.
All the staff do a great job and are very friendly and informative.
The buffet breakfast is very extensive with everything you could possibly want to eat, but I recommend you get there early as the hotel is full of families with little kids and the seating area gets very noisy and the kids are touching a lot of the food with their fingers.
All in all we had a great time, if we go back to Hamilton we would probably choose some other smaller place to stay, there were just too many people for us at the Reef View.
Would recommend for families.

Room Tip: Choose rooms on the pool side as the music from the bar gets a bit loud.

It has been a cold winter in Sydney and the day after we returned from a rather chilly weekend in Melbourne I looked for a warm getaway for my birthday the following weekend. We looked at Fiji, Bali & all the usual places but then remembered Hamilton Island - or Hibiscus Island from the movie Muriel's Wedding.

Hamilton Island is an excellent choice ..only 2.5hrs direct flight from Sydney, so a much shorter commute with the benefit of domestic flights i.e. not as strict as international flights & not as long waiting around airports ...most especially when you only travel with hand luggage. No changing money, no constantly converting into AUD, no jetlag. Perfect for a relaxing mid winter 3 night getaway.

The staff were friendly and efficiently checked in 2 minibuses of tourists rather quickly. While we arrived earlier than check-in they kindly allowed us into our room less than 4 hours after leaving our home. On the day we checked out our flight was later in the day but we were able to utilise rooms & showers which was great after a day on the beach.

We googled the photos of the Reef View Hotel which are awesome ...we did not actually expect to be staying in one of those rooms with THAT view. We were wrong. We paid for a reef view & that is exactly what we got ...from our room, in fact from our bed!!

We were on the 18th floor in a wide, spacious and comfortable room with modern furniture with a twist of "reef" in the decor. I loved that the desk is basically the headboard & was the bed angled so we sat up in bed looking straight out at the reef - just awesome! The outdoor furniture was so comfortable - just beware of the cockatoos who are very persistent! Whatever you do please do not eat or leave food on the table as they just help themselves - sometimes 5 or 6 at a time ...they will also enter your room!

The Reef View Hotel is only 10minutes from Hamilton Island airport and includes free airport transfers. One of the best things for us was the free use of all non motorised water sports - so we earmarked a Hobie catamaran daily, luckily the end of July is a quiet time of year. There were also SUP (stand up paddle) boards, kayaks, windsurfers & snorkelling equipment. It was 25C during the day but was a little chilly in the evenings. The water temperature was also 25C.

While everything is a short walk away we took advantage of the regular free shuttles that constantly do the loops. Just check the times of the orange shuttle up One Tree Hill as they are not that frequent & it was a rather exhausting dash up for one of the best sunsets of my life! You can BYO up there,

Another brilliant aspect is that pretty much the whole island is owned by the one family so if you wish you can use your room key at one of the many great restaurants dotted around the island and have the restaurant bills charged to your room.

Eating & drinking on the island is not cheap so if you wish to save your pennies perhaps you could take supplies from home? You can even take a bottle of wine in your hand luggage on Australian domestic flights.

The glass lift has the most amazing views from a lift. Even the views of the cliff from the rear of the hotel were spectacular.

Thank you too for the card & kind birthday wishes - it really made my holiday special!

Love reef view hotel.
I've stayed here more times than I can count!
Friendly staff and great in room dining service!
The view on a nice day is definitely one to remember as well ..

I don't know why its making me write a 209 word review though.. I would rather just keep it short and sweet...

Had a fantastic stay at the Reef View Hotel! Started with the fact they honoured a cheaper rate we'd found on an alternative website to their own. We were able to check in early and start enjoying our stay straight away. Room was enormous and although we were only on the 3rd floor, the view across Catseye was still spectacular. Swimming pool was great - clean, warm, great size. Location is ideal for exploring the island - start of the trail to Passage Peak is behind the hotel, the Resort Centre and Catseye Beach are across the street and its only 10 mins walk to the marina. Great towels and amenities supplied. Food and drinks are expensive everywhere so definitely recommend taking some supplies with you but a few places do happy hours so that's worth checking out. The shuttle buses are very well organised, but if you want to travel to the airport at a more convenient time, try the Resort Link. All in all, a wonderful trip!

Room Tip: If your budget doesn't stretch to a Reef View room - 3rd floor beach view you still get a great...

We needed a relaxing getaway and decided to travel to Hamilton Island and stay at the Reef View Hotel. From the moment we were pleasantly greeted after stepping off the plane to our departure, our holiday was filled with only positive experiences. All the staff we dealt with were always happy and helpful. You always expect this to be the case, but unfortunately some places don't deliver. The Reef View certainly did.

We were happy to book a garden view room, but even from the fourth floor the views were still so picturesque. Total satisfaction, though we did still venture up to the top floor and take in the scenery from there too. The room was very clean, spacious, comfortable and well equipped too.

There is so much to see and do that five days is not really enough. We did lots of the walks, water sports and played golf, but still had a to do list that will have to keep until the next visit. The sunset sail on the catamaran is an absolute must! It was an amazing experience.

We did not need to hire a buggy. The shuttle buses were very accessible when required, though walking was a very good way to work off all the tasty food that was consumed. We included the buffet breakfast in our package. Definitely, a great idea. The choice provided is unbelievable.

A return visit to Hamilton Island and the Reef View Hotel is definitely on the cards.

Room Tip: The higher the room, the greater the view.

Staff at the Reef View Hotel were extremely friendly, very polite and went out of their way to help. At the airport we "lost" one of our bags (someone took it by mistake) and the staff went out of their way to help. Many thanks to James, (Island Concierge at the airport).

Room Tip: Coral Sea view rooms are great. They overlook Catseye Beach and have a terrific balcony with panoram...
