My sister and I dined here over the weekend while staying on Hamilton Island after it being recommended to us. I am a lover of South East Asian food and was certainly not disappointed with Coca Chu. The service was great and our waitress was incredibly knowledgeable with the dishes on offer. Initially we had planned on getting a couple of mains to share, but after the advise of getting a starter, then salad, then main we did just that. We had the son in law eggs (amazing), duck and lychee pancakes (very generous serving size and amazing flavour) and the pork ribs (my sister and I are usually not rib eaters, but these were to die for!). We could not get over the flavour in the dishes and the wait for food was minimal. The only thing I could potentially comment on in a bad was was the $15 corkage for the bottle of wine we took. However, the food ended up being a mere $5 more than a meal we had at the sails restaurant (a pasta dish and a steak) a few nights earlier, which I was very pleased with! If you stay at Hamilton Island and like South East Asian flavours, go here, you will not be disappointed.

Service was fantastic, our waitress was very attentive and was able to recommend dishes we would like (we are not great lovers of hot hot food) this has been our best dining experience on the island by a long shot. We left feeling very satisfied and would go back to eat here again and again. Meals sizes are good and priced well. Thumbs up

Coca Chu overlooks the beach but there is little attempt to create a beach house atmosphere. It's bare. Food is good. Menu is for sharing and dishes are delivered one at a time to allow for sharing. Service is OK - bit hit and miss. Family friendly for early sittings. Making a reservation does not always ensure a good table. We reserved and got a tiny table in the far breezy corner. Good food without atmosphere.

We had dinner here a couple of nights ago and think its possible we may have got the B team in the kitchen due to State of Origin match. It was average at best, the excellent service and lovely waitress couldn't compensate for food that was over cooked and over seasoned. We started with the chicken betel leaves, ok but nothing fab. Papaya salad was drowning in fish sauce and almost inedible. Wagyu was overpowered by lime and again fish sauce. Disappointing as this dish had been recommended by several people. The veal shank curry was divine. Melt in your mouth sweet sauce that had been allowed to cook slowly. I think this place is usually busy but on the night we visited was very quiet and most of staff standing around chatting. I thnk the usual chef was watching the footy as everybody rose we spoke to raved about the place and we are usually pretty easily pleased !

During our Whitsunday visit, we had dinner here on 2 occasions. Both times the food was sensational. Fantastic spicy mix of flavours . The starter menu is amazing. Our waiter Ramsay on our first night then Hansa on our second visit were equally knowledgable and recommended amazing dishes. The attention to detail was second to none and Ramsay dealt brilliantly when I embarrassingly kicked the wine bucket over. We would go as far to say that Coca Chu is THE best restaurant on Hamilton Island. We will be back :)
