“Nice trip”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 November 2013

This is a nice way to travel City -Glenelg. Glenelg is a nice beachside suburb and on a sunny day its a lovely trip. The new trams dont have the character of the old ones but it is still a fun day out.

“Glenelg, SA”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

Adelaide’s beautiful beaches attract people from all parts of the world. Glenelg, the heart of Adelaide’s coastline, is well known as the “charming seaside resort” because the things to see and do there are endless. Walk along the sandy white beach and smell the fresh sea breeze, or shop up a storm along the shopping strip well known as Jetty Road. If you’ve got younger children, no need to worry because there’s a world full of adventures in the Beachhouse, which is located on the shorefront and 200m from Mosley Square (Glenelg’s center).

Running from Mosley square, straight up the middle of Jetty Road and to the city of Adelaide is a tramline that is a direct route from Glenelg to the City, meaning that a world full of shopping and the busy city life is just a short 25 minute tram ride away.

With a great summer climate, Glenelg is the perfect place to head out in the evening and enjoy dinner and drinks with the serene view of the sun setting over the ocean. There are a number of delightful restaurants, and for those who are partygoers, there are many bars that turn into nightclubs for the nightlife.

Local resident for the past 5 years, Jemma King, said that it’s the perfect place for anyone to relax.

“No matter if you have children, are looking to go out with mates or just want to spend a day frolicking in the water, there’s something fun to do,” she said.

“I’ve been around the place for nearly 5 years and I never get bored because it truly is a beautiful place with everything anyone needs.”

Unlike other popular tourists attractions Glenelg has a relaxed feel of belonging. It doesn’t consist of people trying to sell you their products at the best price or businesses with sky rocketing meal prices; instead, it reflects a laid-back beach culture.

Owner of the popular Oyster Bar, Barry Slattery said that Glenelg has a great, relaxed culture so it’s important for him and his business to keep up with this standard.

“We specialise in Oysters, very beachy, however we also concentrate on our friendly service, quality of wine and the atmosphere that we create,” he said.

“Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night we provide live, local music entertainment, which most of the time is acoustic.”

So to take a stroll along a beautiful jetty, indulge in an ice cream or sit back and have a beer overlooking the ocean, make sure to head to Glenelg to have the cultural experience of a lifetime.

“We are now regular tram uses”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

We now, if going to Glenelg or the city catch the tram. Particulary if we are going out in the evening. We do have to drive a few km's to get to the tram stop but have no trouble parking close. This is much easier than trying to find a park at the Bay or the city plus being able, for both of us, to have a few drinks & feel safe travelling. We love the tram.
