“Simple but good”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

Paul's gives you a simple 1970's style salad (iceberg lettuce and a bit of tomato), a nice freshly cooked piece of fish and some outstanding chips. This with a glass of wine will cost you about $22. The service is friendly and good and you can see your fish being cooked in front of you like any old fashioned fish and chip shop. Worth a visit.

“reasonable grilled fish and dated salad”
Reviewed 18 March 2014

In Adelaide for the Fest etc I was looking for something in Gouger St as was going to an event in Angas St on the other side of King William. Did not really feel like Asian so saw this trad-looking fish and chippie so to speak and I had limited time, so that will do. The 2 pieces of grilled schnapper were pretty standard for that sort of thing - OK but not outstanding. The salad was some chiffonade lettuce (which I think went out in about 1984) and a tomato segment and maybe a slice of cucumber. Oil and white vinegar on the table, and also served with fried chat-style potatoes, rather than chips (not that I was banking on either). I ate at the street table which is nice in balmy March weather. The price was about $28 for the fish I think. No way is it a fine diner or anything but an honest enough Greek style fish cafe.

I am nmot a creature of habit having said that I always go to Paul's whenever I visit Adelaide. I did so again the other day and as usual the King george Whiting is to die for. Tried the Soft Shell Crab for entree this time and it was excelllent as well.
I have not been disappointed in over 30 years. A true cafe experience.
Well done.

“The Best Fish Cafe in Adelaide?”
Reviewed 30 December 2013

The cafe, situated on two floors, is nothing spectacular to look at. . However, possibly the best fish restaurant in Adelaide. Good selection of seafood cooked at the front of the restaurant. Swift service, excellent food and inexpensive.

“So so seafood.”
Reviewed 30 December 2013

Ordered a battered seafood platter.. Came out under seasoned, and a bit soggy unfortunately. The soft-shell crab we had was alright though. Potatoes are nothing special. I'll try the plain grilled fish next time and update my review accordingly.
