A great hotel with great views and classy rooms.

The whole room is great. It's spacious with all the amenities you'll need, and the bathroom is huge.

Luckily I was here on business and didn't have to pay the room rate, but I'd stay here again if I could.

Being right in the heart of Adelaide is also a bonus.

Recently stayed for 2 nights and overall it was a good stay.
Club lounge was quite good but unfortunately they seem to allow children under 12 in there after 6.30 which is not equitable when adults cant get a table and are paying full price.
It was a busy weekend so an extra "club" area was set up in their lobby lounge which supposedly had the same food offerings as in the actual club. This was not the case! I even asked if the offering would be the same - as it should be - and was assured it would be. Please don't treat your guests as fools hoping to get away with a sub par offering.
During the day the lobby lounge was also a bit of a mess with not overly attentive staff.
We still like the Inter Adelaide but feel some stronger levels of training and direction are required. And please explain to the "special" club level lady (not the overall manager who was lovely) that it isn't our privilege to stay with you and be in the lounge - but it is your job to serve us. Please don't be condescending to your valued guests. I am sure the staff know who i am referring to.

I'm sure this hotel was quite impressive in the late 80's when it looks like it was built.
Location as mentioned in other reviews is very central beside a casino and what appears to be the central Adelaide train station, which results in some 'colourful' people around the hotel.

The hotel itself seemed well maintained but VERY dated, like a time machine back to 1989.
My room, while spacious, had a strange and clashing combination of pine and dark wood furniture. While i didnt particulary care, it certainly isnt what I would expect of a hotel pertaining to be 5 star.

The breakfast buffet was overpriced and dissapointing for what was essentially a very basic setup.
Staff were freindly and attentive but were really let down by the food offering. No live "egg station" and the only freshly cut fruit on display were oranges and pinapple, along with some tinned fruit.
For this type of hotel changing what they do for the breakfast was a disgrace.

All in all the managment/owners really should invest in a bit in this place or downgrade it to a 'Holiday Inn" in which case i wouldnt be so hard on it as it gives a clean and comfortable room but without any of the 'lux' youd expect from this brand.

We have not been to stay here for about 10 years and not a lot has changed. The studio rooms are exactly the same and quite basic compared to competitors. Very good selection on the mini bar/ snacks and a fairly extensive room service menu. The service and the cocktails in the Atrium Lounge were fabulous, worth dropping in just for a drink. Unlike many local competitors they do not offer the ' all the movies you can watch' plan, instead it is $18 per movie which is petty hefty when their across the road competition offers all the movies you can watch for $30 per 24 hours, as do many inter state competitors too. The reception staff were pretty uninspiring and the buffet breakfast staff were dismal. $35 a head and we had to ask for coffee repeatedly (the waitress kept forgetting), cold poached eggs, the tea station was near impossible to navigate ( three of us had to ask the waiter for help) and our plates were not cleared regularly ( twice I had to take our used plates and dump them on a counter to clear space on the able).
The Intercontinental is resting on its laurels and it is being overtaken by its competition.

My wife and I stayed in room 608 for one night while attending an event at the convention centre. There are plenty of other hotels across the road from the convention centre, but we believed this would be the best one. Check in was easy and friendly and we were given a room on the 6th floor facing the river. The room and the bathroom were large, but a little dated. A little bit of a renovation would go a long way. There were two bottles of water left next to the bed and my first impression was great free water, like they do many places around the world. Boy was I wrong $7:50! When are the hotels in Australia going to catch up with these small things including free wifi. The bed was comfortable, the bath towels were extra large and the room was quite. We did not bother with the breakfast, because just like the water it was too expensive, so we just went to a café close by.

We stayed at the Intercontinental for 5 nights while my husband was at a conference.
For us, the hotel location was perfect – right by the Convention Centre, trams outside, shops and decent restaurants an easy walk. And then there was the lovely walk over and along the river, as well as along North Terrace to the museums and art gallery.
Our hotel room was spacious, clean and very comfortable, although the split door to the bathroom was annoying. The staff were always pleasant and helpful, and there was rarely a wait for the lifts. By joining the hotel loyalty scheme, we were able to get free inroom wifi. We thought the breakfast was expensive, so only made use of it once. There are plenty of places to grab a bite nearby, or stock up on goodies from the market and load up your fridge as we did.
We would stay there again if ever lucky enough to return to Adelaide.

We recently stayed here for the second time on the club level. Check in was efficient, polite, friendly and speedy. Very personal as Angela made her way around to my side of the desk to present me with my keys. Room was clean, comfortable and big. Club floor like last time was of a high quality. Good selection of food and beverages on offer. We arrived while afternoon tea was being served, then later enjoyed evening drinks and a beautiful breakfast in the morning. The gym was well equipped and clean also. They also acknowledged my partners birthday with a small token, very thoughful
