A pleasant hotel in a great location. Recenly refurbished. The standard rooms are very very small. The buffet breakfast is one of the best I have tasted. Staff were friendly and helpful, with odd exceptions.

I booked a rather expensive ($500 rack rate) suite in this hotel for four days. Fortunantly the terms were that I could cancel and I moved after the first night!

Way overpriced for what it was; overpriced wireless internet only, no foxtel in the bedroom. Depressing, dingy, ugly, cheaply furnished room. Staff don't care.

I regularly stay at Accor Hotels and they are mostly excellent, this was just embarrassing. Someone has performed a very bad renovation on this once majestic building.

The best things about this hotel were the convenient location and very comfortable beds and pillows. Other than that it was average but for the money, served it's purpose. The front desk staff was indifferent and failed to pass on a phone message from the USA. The bathroom could have been cleaner. The room decor was modern and looked recently renovated.

This is the most conveniently located hotel I've ever visited! The staff were always friendly and helpful. The room was clean. Yes it was small by American standards, but that's part of the fun of travel, and it is a budget hotel after all. I don't think any REASONABLE person would have any complaints about it.

The the train station opposite isn't the one you use! We got caught out by this and only found out thanks to a chance remark on the shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel. So instead of a leisuely walk over to the train station, we had to fork out $12 on a taxi instead.

We had problems checking in - we paid extra to get a guaranteed twin superior room but was given a double room. Eventually were given the twin room we'd booked but it didn't help that the person on the front desk barely spoke any English! However, we had to go and get our room changed again because the one allocated to us was down 3 flights of stairs once you'd taken the lift to the floor and walked down a LONG corridor. It would have been okay if we didn't have lots of luggage but with 4 heavy bags/suitcases between us it was a no-go.

The room we finally ended up in was very nice. Very good decor and a TV with lots of channels! The bathroom let it down badly though as it was very narrow but a bonus point was the brilliant shower.

Internet is available at the hotel but it is rather expensive - $8 for 30 mins but I needed to send some emails so had to pay.

The bar area is nice but the food very fancy and expensive.

We spent 6 nights at this hotel and must say, it is one of the most conveniently placed hotels I have ever stayed at. The free bus and tram are right outside and the Casino across the road. Using the free transport, we managed to get nearly everywhere we wanted within the city or to connecting transport outside the city.

I had requested twin beds and we were given a room with two queen beds so that was a bonus. The beds were the most comfortable hotel beds I have slept in for a long time plus they had feather duvets. The room itself was not overly big but perfectly adequate. However, the room was far too warm even though we had the heating turned off. On the second day we asked at the front desk if something could be done about the heat. They immediately supplied a fan to our room but this just moved the hot air around. On the third day I requested a room change. They suggested we open the window which we had to get them to do and it improved things a bit.

It wasn't until I sent in my comments in response to their survey that I was told they did have a problem with their air con/heating system and they were in the process of replacing it. So that was good to hear.

I also mentioned that the bathroom lighting was inadequate and again that was acknowledged as one of the things 'to do'.

The major problem we had with this hotel was in the breakfast restaurant. We noticed the waitresses did not remove all the cutlery and napkins as people left the table. If cutlery was not placed on the dishes after being used, the waitresses seemed to assume they were clean! We saw people using the napkins and putting them back down on the table looking as if they were unused and then the waitress leaving the napking for the next people. We pointed this out to the Duty Manager one morning and he immediately went to talk to the staff but we noticed the same thing happened the next day. I hope this practice has now stopped after I complained about it in the survey.

All in all, we would stay here again as I feel the hotel was very good, they just need to be a bit more vigilant with staff training.

A friend and I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights in May 2008. When I made the booking via the accor website I specifically requested 2 separate beds.

First the bad: Upon check in the (female) manager asked if we wanted a room with one queen bed, to which we replied that we needed and requested 2 beds. Lo and behold upon arriving in the room it had only one bed - a queen. We could clearly see that it could be separated into 2 single beds so we called down to reception to request this. We then left the hotel and returned 3 hours later. The bed had not been separated. Another call to reception resulted in the beds being separated 10 minutes later.

We also requested extra toiletries as there was only enough for 1 person. The helpful chap who rearranged the beds gave us enough toiletries to last several days. Imagine our surprise when we returned from our outing the next day to find they'd all been taken and only 1 set of toiletries remained. Also discovered that the dirty glasses hadn't been cleaned and/or replaced. Another call to reception. Another wait of several hours.

After the second day we realised that it depended which shift was on as to whether our requests were ignored or acted upon. Don't know whether that was down to the (female) manager on duty or the actual staff.

Overall it was very hit and miss with the number of toiletries supplied each day - clearly there were 2 people staying in the room so why only provide enough for 1 person?

The restaurant is located upstairs, without any lift access, so this may present problems for people with mobility issues or those in wheelchairs.

Now the good: I must give top marks to Narelle at the front desk for her help when it came time to deciding on sightseeing options.

The room service was excellent - very quick, tasty and reasonably priced. We usually ordered room service as the restaurant menu wasn't very appealing to us, nor did it change during the time we were there.

The buffet breakfast was okay - menu didn't seem to change from day to day, but is certainly sufficient to fill you up at least until lunch time. Was also very impressed with one of the waitresses who happily filled our order for a non buffet item and then asked us each morning whether we'd like it again.

Overall the staff were pretty friendly and helpful, although the female manager didn't seem to want to go out of her way - and ignoring our request for 2 beds rather than 1 certainly got things off on the wrong foot.

The room certainly wasn't huge but was sufficient for our stay. Was also a bit tired looking. Our "view" consisted of the concrete walls of the building next door so that wasn't terribly exciting.

Location wise it is handy to town (few minutes walk to main street and transport information bureau) and opposite the train station and free inner city tram stop. The appallingly small Adelaide Museum is within walking distance, as is the far more interesting Migration Museum and the Botanical Gardens. Airport is only 10-15 minutes away. We caught the shuttle bus back and forth. It only costs $5 on weekdays but $8 on weekends for some unknown reason.

Acitivity wise I would recommend visitors catch the 'Popeye' boat from the nearby parklands and get off at the zoo stop. A very relaxing and picturesque way to spend the day.
