2 bed apartment more suited for a family than 2 couples.
The 2nd bedroom is approx. 8' square and there is only 1 bathroom/toilet which has access from the hall and also from the main bedroom. The main bedroom has opaque double sliding doors with no locks leading into the bathroom/toilet which means that their is little privacy.
The apartment is in need of redecoration, walls are dirty and a hole had been plastered but not painted
The windows looked as if they had not been cleaned for a long time

Auckland was deserted for the New Year, the hotel three quarters empty and the restaurant closed. The Brisbane hotel was half empty and the bar and dining room under renovations. Adelaide, on the other hand, was chock full of visitors and the city alight with energy and enthusiasm. A lot of this can be attributed to a major bike race that brought Lance Armstrong into the city as both a competitor and promoter. When a city is happy, the tourists are happy. The Oaks elevators were often full of Spandex and bikes - the place was alive! To get down to business the Oaks is an average you-get-what-you-pay-for apartment hotel. The rooms are a reasonable size and comfortable despite the odd scuff and bump. We relished the chance to have a couple of simple homemade meals and to catch up on the washing and ironing. However, I should mention that the washer dryer was a combination unit that, despite full instructions, appeared to require an engineering degree to operate successfully. This hotel has taken a few knocks from reviewers but we sensed work was being done, improvements made and it was heading in the right direction. A small bonus was a safe that, for once, was clearly secure and easy to operate. The bed was large and comfortable. There was one part of the bedroom wall that was opaque glass. You could stand on the other side and amuse the person in bed by doing finger puppets. The hotel happily stored our suitcases when we went off to Kangaroo Island for a couple of days. The hotel is very centrally located and I would be happy to recommend it to other tourists and visitors.

We found the hotel adequate to our needs. Good size kitchen lounge had holes in it, but was clean and tidy. Some mould in bathroom just needs good scrub. Being a smoker it was great to have a balcony where I could look over the city and relax with a smoke. Staff were friendly but was irked to have to pay $15.00 to park my car. It was a nice place to stay will stay again.

We'd read many reviews of this property and of Oaks' other hotel almost next door. More often than not, they suggested the place could be better . . . and after five minutes, we had concluded they were wrong! What a great find for our family!

Our room was on the north-west corner of the 12th floor with floor to ceiling windows giving great views to the Adelaide Cricket Ground (we could listen the crowd at a one-day game on the night we arrived!) Both bedroom had comfortable beds and the bathroom/laundry had a great washer and dryer. The kitchen had a full fridge (and cooking "stuff" which we ignored.

We found the hotel pool was clidy when we went to try it, and the management closed it and later concluded that their pool maintenance folk had overdosed it with chemicals. But the staff were great, calling their hotel next door and arranging for us to go next door . . . where we found the same pool maintenace staff had wrecked it too. Still, not really the Oaks' fault and they couldn't have felt more ridiculous.

The place needs a restaurant - the cafe served a limited breakfast, and it wasn't open int he evenings, but then Hindley Street is just a block away and the other side of North Terrace has the top hotels and the casino. The free (between the terraces) tram runs past the front, and the free circle bus stops right outside the front door.

Excellent 15th floor appatment. Clean, well equipped, good balcony and view. Adelaide was so much more than we had expected.

When we got the key to our room, it was disappointing as we request a higher level, we have a lower level :( The keys even do not work in the lift so we were struggling to go up to our room most of the time. The bedroom has an interconnected toilet/bathroom which the door couldn't close properly and the door has a bad paint on it. The tv in the bedroom was not working as there's a hole in the socket of the tv antenna. And there's a spider in the bedroom went under the bed!! The bathroom is using a bathtub which was also disappointing as it is old fashion. Not to mention, the washing basin sink in the bathroom was too low that you can't even fit your whole hand under the tap so brushing your teeth and washing your face was with difficulty!! The washing machine are a combination of washing the clothes and dryer which was hard to operate. The balcony was small. The only tv working was the one in the living room which is the big chunk old heavy tv not the LCD/Plasma one!!
Moreover they are very stingy as there's only one of each ie: one shampoo, one conditioner, one tissue box and one toilet paper and nothing else. Carpark is very small and tight even have difficulty swiping the card in and out. The only good point is the staff was friendly and quite helpful. And the bus-stop and tram are just right outside and it is centrally located (in the city).

I stayed at the Oaks horizon for nearly a month due to work and my company had put me up here thinking it was a good serviced apartment.
I had numerous problems during my stay there. Where should I start?!
Toilet seat in the room was broken, it would not stay up meaning that my boyfriend could not use it at all and it took about 3 days to get fixed, and then the whole building had no water for a whole day which meant that I could not even have a shower of flush the toilet!
The staff was most unhelpful, even downright rude telling me that 'it's not just your room, it's the whole building, and no, we don't know when it'll be fixed but they're working on it'
I was told that the water will be restored the next day and the next day only cold brown water came out!!
The bathroom was mouldy and seemed like that the housekeepers didn't consider mould to be a problem!
Lastly, i suspected there might be something in the room as I kept getting bitten on my body and on my last day i actually found a bed bug on my bed! when I told the reception, they said that they'll pass it on to the housekeepers. NO APOLOGY whatsoever!! She even went as far as to say 'well you've been there for over 3 weeks and you've just told us today that you've seen a bedbug' which to me sounded like she was suggesting that I had caused them!!
DOWNRIGHT RUDE!!!
I will never ever stay there again and will not be recommending it to my colleagues either.
The staff there seriously needs to learn some manners and need to take a course on customer service!
