Spent 2 nights here over Christmas. We booked a mystery hotel on wotif for $110 and this is where it was. We were given a room on the top floor with a massive king size bed beautiful deep bath & amazing views all the way to glenelg beach from the balcony. The location was close to cbd walking distance to alot of places. It was clean and comfortable and we would happily stay there again

Dear lounjaylovetravel
I am pleased you enjoyed your recent visit and thanks for sharing your experience with others.
The Mystery Hotel deal is a great way to save money and experience something which we may not have picked ourself. As you mention the views from our higher floors are pretty impressive and I can personally attest that the ones from the opposite side of the property looking up to the Adelaide Hills are equally so.
I do hope you will come and stay with us again when next you are in Adelaide.
Kind Regards

Balcony was filthy with old cigarette butts and build up of bird poo. Did not reply to my email that i sent complaining of the condition. Hall ways and lift were also dirty and run down. Worst of all listed swimming pool however the pools were actually in neighboring hotels which were definitely not four and a half stars. Needless to say because we didn't want to walk down the main street in our bathers to a less than average outdoor pool we didn't use that amenity. Never staying here again!!!

Dear Portughese
Thanks for staying with us recently and writing a review. I did try and call your phone to discuss your stay personally when I received your feedback email via our Head Office however there was no answer nor facility to leave a voice message. I have also followed up by email to you directly several days ago.
Unfortunately we do have a problem with pigeons at our hotel and throughout Adelaide generally. Adelaide's wider bird problem has been reported in the local papers quite extensively recently and is proving very frustrating for many businesses and people. Over the last several years we have also undertaken specific deterrents and spending many thousands of dollars such as installing bird netting to our balconies and spikes to window ledges which have proven only moderately successful. Whilst it is difficult to keep on top of due to the numbers of pigeons and how quickly the droppings pile up, our Housekeeping team do remain vigilant with the increased schedule for cleaning of the balconies. We are very sorry for any inconvenience you may have experienced in this regard.
We apologise also you felt uncomfortable accessing the swimming pool however the location of this is clearly defined on the hotel's and all other websites. Unfortunately, when a booking is made - such as yours - via a "Mystery hotel" website feature, the website does not show many of the specifics of the property until after the booking has been made and this is out of our direct control or influence.
We are truly sorry your stay was not as expected and I invite you to call me at the hotel to discuss your feedback personally.
Kind Regards

This hotel is way over-priced. The room was grubby, with cleaning standards very low. Beds were remade with the same sheets. Nothing was tidied in the room. The walls were so thin we could clearly hear conversations/television from the room next door. The bathroom exhaust vent was covered in filth. Air-conditioner leaked lots of water onto balcony that seemed unsafe to begin with. Room-service was over-priced to start with, then they slapped on an extra $5 "service fee". I will not be staying at this hotel again, nor recommend it to anyone. Only thing going for it is views of the park, which must be why they feel they can charge so much for an inferior room.

Room Tip: Don't.

From the moment we checked in we continued to be impressed by hotel. The room was very clean and well furnished. Great views to the Hills. Good lifts. Very helpful staff. Excellent dining room with fair prices and quality food. Excellent location for city business.

Room Tip: Car parking a bit tight, but quite secure.

The hotel seems to have been refurbished recently, they haven't done too bad of a job to it. It's modern, clean and the restaurant food is good. The only complaint is there is a door between rooms (it's locked) but you can hear the other room and also noise coming from outside the room including the lift. Nothing flash but I would stay hear again, perhaps a little pricey for what is offered.

Thanks for writing a review on your recent visit. I am pleased you enjoyed the experience.
We often have some very affordable "Advance Purchase" rates on various accommodation websites or direct over the phone especially if you know more than a week or two in advance of the date of stay - these are a great way of saving some $.
We look forward to welcoming you back when next you visit.

My partner and I stayed 8 nights at the Grand Chifley. We stayed in a 'standard' room and that's what it was- standard. It was clean and spacious enough, but nothing special. The room smelt quite 'musky', but after opening the balcony door everyday we were able to 'air out the room'. I found the noise quite difficult to bear at the hotel- you can hear people on the same floor, particularly opening and closing entrance doors and balcony doors. The traffic noise also comes through to the rooms. The pigeons are also quite noisy, we had them sitting outside on our balcony all the time, and banging into our windows during the night. Balcony is unusable due to pigeon droppings.
The positives of staying here were the free car parking, use of the outdoor pool next door, free daily newspaper and location.
We had a discounted rate to stay here & we got what we paid for but I wouldn't pay full price to stay here again. I would rather stay a little more central to the city and in a more modern hotel.
I would recommend this hotel to families, there is a great park across the road.
Check in and out was efficient and service was welcoming.

Dear kaz_raz_85
I am pleased you both enjoyed your stay and thank you for writing a review for others.
We apologise for the disturbances you experienced from the pigeons and fellow guests.
We are continuing with our efforts to overcome the pigeon pests and housekeeping remain vigilant in this endeavour. We hope also that the various councils and other stake holders can agree on a action plan to bring their numbers under control in the near future as the problem is currently widespread throughout Adelaide.

I stayed at this hotel recently whilst attending a wedding and it was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was great which is a real must in a hotel. The location is a bit out of the way from the town centre if you are going by foot, but by taxi it isn't bad at all. Average pricing for a hotel , the building on the outside looks a bit dated however the rooms were much better.

Dear Bombshelle
I am pleased you enjoyed your stay and thanks for writing a review for other travellers.
As well as walking or taxi to the centre of the CBD, did you know there is a free tram service? The nearest stop is about 600m from our front door - a great way to save money and your legs either before or after shopping or a busy day at work.
We look forward to welcoming you back next time you stay.
