On a wet day we seemed to spend a lot of time looking at the ground as we crossed the mall. We had a distinct feeling of insecurity from the appearance of the mall surface, but took it slowly. Sadly, much of the retail experience around the mall is sad, once you go beyond the bright lights of the mall itself. With a couple of exceptions, the arcades off the mall were of no great interest to us, and were peppered with empty premises, giving the impression of how things maybe once were. The occasional public artwork provided a distraction (the pigs and the balls) but these were offset by the barricades and building works. Adelaide has other major retail centres outside the CBD, accessible by public transport (eg Burnside Village, Marion) and worthy of consideration.

Had a lovely time in Rundle Mall with family, shopping, coffee, buskers, easy to get around, surrounded by lovely parklands, botanical gardens, museum, art gallery within walking distance, a clean and tidy city, a fun day out with lots to see.

As part of our time in Adelaide recently we took a stroll down the Rundle St Mall. We found it to be a great spot with lots of choices for shopping and places to have a coffee and or snack. However the experience we enjoyed most was listening to the musicians playing in the mall. We have enjoyed malls in Brisbane and Melbourne and this one is equally as good! Happy shopping!

AdelIde is a City but has a Village feel...
It has the usual Department Stires and a swathe of Coffee Shops
One thing in its favour...it's not crowded
A 100 years ago it would have been the only place to conduct business and sell wares but now with the growth of the suburbs with their own Malls etc one does not have to make the trip into town

Thank John M
