“Melt in the mouth schnitzel!”
Reviewed 26 November 2013

We have lived in a neighbouring suburb for 17 years and driven past the Weinstadl many a time and always said "we must eat there!" Well two weeks ago on a Thursday night we finally did! Hubby saw the $38 two course and one wine meal deal on the board outside....
The house is quaint and in a lovely setting we were sat in a room off the main room ( perhaps because we had our 10 year old with us!) - the rest of the clientele seemed rather old and I joked with hubby we were the youngest ones there - we are in our mid forties!
The service was excellent and the food - delicious . My son and I had the special schnitzel with tomato bacon and Swiss cheese topping. The meat was so tender it melted in our mouths. My son said it was the best schnitzel he'd ever had and he was right. hubby had a the fish of the day and it was lovely also. We enjoyed the pancakes for dessert and the wine list was very good. I highly recommend this hidden treasure.

“Another excellent dinner at this longstanding Coromandel Valley restaurant”
Reviewed 23 November 2013

This restaurant is about a 20 minute drive from the CBD, through Blackwood and picturesque Coromandel Valley.

It's an old farmhouse, set in charming floral gardens.

On my most recent visit, I had the specials of the day for my starter and main course.

The starter was very tasty: grilled prawns and fresh asparagus, served with hollandaise sauce.

The main course was a beautifully cooked fillet of lingfish, which was prepared with a Macadamia nut crust.

The food and service was excellent.

They have an interesting wine list.

The ambience is warm and friendly.

This is a good restaurant to visit for a pleasant and relaxing overall experience.

“Excellent longstanding Adelaide Hills restaurant- tip: the Thursday evening dinner and wine special is excellent value”
Reviewed 24 June 2013

The Weinstadl is a longstanding Coromandel Valley restaurant, offering tasty European cuisine with a relaxed ambience- in winter, they have a nice open fire.

Signature dishes include the duck legs, and the seafood pancake.

The staff are friendly and hospitable.

Well worth a visit.

“Not impressed with the food”
Reviewed 12 March 2013

I dined here as a member of a wedding party, and the package wasn't that cheap it seems, around $45 per head.
I had a starter of marinated chicken on a salad bed. The tiny slithers of chicken, and I am talking half a tenderloin, were not obviously marinated and the salad bed was a few leaves. Tasteless and very disappointing.
The main was 2 duck legs in orange sauce with spaetzle, which are miniature dumplings. They were tasteless. The orange sauce was tasteless too, with a few pieces of mandarin, and the duck legs, though tasty, were tiny. Very disappointing. Not horrible or anything, just tasteless.

The desert was wedding cake, like Black Forest gateau, very nice.

The wheat beer was nice as was the Austrian beer, wine was OK.

I saw other peoples dishes, they were as small as mine.

Quite a nice location, food-well overpriced for what it is, recommended, no.
