Situated right in the heart of the city and just steps away from the Hilton Hotel and Central Market, this restaurant cum bar is one of Adelaide's premier drinking and dining experiences. Personally I've dined there on many occasions and whilst the food is always delightful the wine list is both surprising and extensive. Each time I've been there, the quality of the wines on the tables was only surpassed by the quality of the food, which is basically Euro - fusion.

This is not one of Adelaide's cheapest dining places, budget for $100,00 a head. If you're a visitor, this is one of the best introductions to fine dining on local produce that there is. Enjoy!

Eagerly awaited repeat visit after an absence of a couple of years. There are both a la carte or degustation menus. We chose from the extensive a la carte menu.

Our shared entre consisted of one Antipasto platter and one Affetato platter (a selection of local and Italian cured meats) which were both around the $20 mark. For mains we had a Maltagliate pasta with a meat sauce and a vegetable risotto (both $33) with a witlof salad ($9) - all very tasty. We skipped dessert as we were both very comfortable after the first two courses.

Very good wine list comprised of local and Italian wines.

Service was very good.

Would absolutely come again.

Our visit to Auge was on a Wednesday night, yet it was very busy, almost full and the buzz of course added to the atmosphere. We each had the 6 course degustation ($120) and overall it was excellent with a very Italian way of composition and presentation. The carpaccio of king-fish, quail dish, and pork belly were stand out dishes. The steak course was very good and generous. The dessert was OK, only the baked gnocchi was disappointing being a little heavy. The waiter suggested an excellent Italian wine, not too expensive, and one that went very well across the meal. Service, so often a weak point in Australia, was expert, and attentive without being over done. All up, a better than expected meal at a very fair price.
