Description: Georges on Waymouth was established by George & Voula Kasimatis in November 2002, with the aim of serving fresh seasonal produce with impeccable service in a classic European setting. In the heart of Adelaide's CBD, Georges on Waymouth is an undeniable crowd pleaser, continually striving for excellence amongst locals and interstate guests. The dining room is stylish and minimalist with crisp linen tablecloths, high ceilings and wooden floorboards. A distinctly Mediterranean menu takes advantage of seasonal fare with beautiful delights such as Jerusalem artichoke veloute, artichoke skins, wild mushrooms, beurre noisette. Tortellini of osso-buco, green olive gremolata, grana padano, krispy kale. Our signature dish Lamb Press, pancetta, mustard fruits, caramelised cauliflower, grilled sprouts, black sherry. Chocolate fondant, mandarin ice cream, cardamom tuile - sensational! The Adelaide food scene continues to thrive - never been to Georges before but conveniently located in central Adelaide. Food is great, service excellent and good value. There were 3 of us, we asked to share starters and they were then served up as a sharing plate - surprisingly for me the eggplant was the winner. For mains you must try the pressed lamb, there are plenty of other offerings but of our 3 mains this was the #1. What was also great was the service, not perfect but very genuine and the staff were interested in what they were doing, to the extent of making useful suggestions, including trying the black sherry. Just one warning, the Grappa and coffee is great, but the grappa is a genrous dash - enjoy.

After dining at Georges last night, we wondered why we'd never been before! We attended a special wine tasting dinner hosted by East End Cellars, to showcase the many expressions of wine from two Greek Wineries: Gaia and Kir Yianni. Much to our surprise the Greek wines were really good and complemented the food perfectly. In fact, the food and service was so good we can't wait to return and experience some other offerings from the menu. Our five course degustation menu included Kangaroo Island Marron, Adelaide Hills Venison and Lamb Press presented with celeriac puree, caramelised shallots and smoked leek. All were cooked to perfection and tasted wonderful and the stand-out of the night (for us) was the dessert consisting of layers of sponge with mascarpone, orange, almonds and a mandarin sorbet. Compliments and thanks to the chef/s and the owner George.

We ate dinner here recently. The service was excellent from start to finish. We normally order dishes and swap with each other half way through so we can try more things. On realising this when we were ordering, the waiter offered to make half portions of everything. A nice touch, particularly when service is the downfall in a lot of the nearby restaurants. The food was all excellent, very creative and tasty. The warm ambience made this an excellent overall experience.
