Description: Georges on Waymouth was established by George & Voula Kasimatis in November 2002, with the aim of serving fresh seasonal produce with impeccable service in a classic European setting. In the heart of Adelaide's CBD, Georges on Waymouth is an undeniable crowd pleaser, continually striving for excellence amongst locals and interstate guests. The dining room is stylish and minimalist with crisp linen tablecloths, high ceilings and wooden floorboards. A distinctly Mediterranean menu takes advantage of seasonal fare with beautiful delights such as Jerusalem artichoke veloute, artichoke skins, wild mushrooms, beurre noisette. Tortellini of osso-buco, green olive gremolata, grana padano, krispy kale. Our signature dish Lamb Press, pancetta, mustard fruits, caramelised cauliflower, grilled sprouts, black sherry. Chocolate fondant, mandarin ice cream, cardamom tuile - sensational! George and his staff provide an excellent dining experience. With exceptional service by all front of house staff and delicious, hearty, refined meals by the kitchen staff, I love coming here for business lunches. Alternatively, a quick coffee at Georges never goes astray either.

“Sophisticated but not stuffy”

A family birthday, a cold, wet Friday night and George's was bustling. We took a bottle of French bubbles ($25 corkage) and ordered a bottle of red from the extensive wine list. The five of us shared the entree platter, lots of nice little tastes, hot and cold and great for sharing. Not very inventive with the mains, ( us, not the menu!), two very good steaks cooked to order and three crab ravioli in lobster bisque. I found this a bit rich but the other 2 thoroughly enjoyed theirs. The birthday was acknowledged by a complimentary signature dessert, salted caramel, chocolate, icecream and honeycomb with 5 teaspoons so we could pass it around several times. Service was friendly and the staff knew their stuff although they were clearly very busy. There was a mixture of couples and larger groups and

Food was over priced. We had the Lamb Press and the texture and flavour was very ordinary.
Service was very good.

“Simply Impressive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2014

The Adelaide food scene continues to thrive - never been to Georges before but conveniently located in central Adelaide. Food is great, service excellent and good value. There were 3 of us, we asked to share starters and they were then served up as a sharing plate - surprisingly for me the eggplant was the winner. For mains you must try the pressed lamb, there are plenty of other offerings but of our 3 mains this was the #1. What was also great was the service, not perfect but very genuine and the staff were interested in what they were doing, to the extent of making useful suggestions, including trying the black sherry. Just one warning, the Grappa and coffee is great, but the grappa is a genrous dash - enjoy.

“Sensational food, exemplary service.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 June 2014

After dining at Georges last night, we wondered why we'd never been before! We attended a special wine tasting dinner hosted by East End Cellars, to showcase the many expressions of wine from two Greek Wineries: Gaia and Kir Yianni. Much to our surprise the Greek wines were really good and complemented the food perfectly. In fact, the food and service was so good we can't wait to return and experience some other offerings from the menu. Our five course degustation menu included Kangaroo Island Marron, Adelaide Hills Venison and Lamb Press presented with celeriac puree, caramelised shallots and smoked leek. All were cooked to perfection and tasted wonderful and the stand-out of the night (for us) was the dessert consisting of layers of sponge with mascarpone, orange, almonds and a mandarin sorbet. Compliments and thanks to the chef/s and the owner George.
