5 families stayed for 2 nights in camper trailers and caravans in the Qld winter school hols. We actually preferred this park to Birdsville c/p and Ayers Rock Resort Campground! The amenities were clean and plenty of hot water (don't forget to take your 20c pieces!) Laundry facilities were great, and we spent a couple of days exploring. Don't forget to visit Josephines' Kangaroo Orphanage, free entry (make a donation). The Old Timer's Mine was very informative and self-guided. It got very busy in the park, so book ahead during peak times.

CP is not one of our most favourite places in Oz, but we did stay four nights, or I should say, our van stayed for this time, as we used this site for a base to travel. We required to leave the van somewhere safe and secure, while we traveled to William Creek, for a flight over Lake Eyre, and then did the Oodnadatta Track, as we were not staying at the site, I did try for a small discount as some sites do allow a discount for parking vans only, but no way, was told it was peak season, and van was using valuable space, actually it was not peak, but that's fine, people have to earn a living. We booked well ahead of time and received confirmation, but on arrival we were not booked in, and asked to prove it. Lucky we had our laptop, and saved a copy of email, as the person who confirmed was the person we were speaking to at reception, but all good as they had plenty of room, even if not booked ahead, lucky considering it was there peak....the amenities were average as new ones were under construction, pay for water in showers, no prob, to be expected in this area, very dusty to be expected, but like we said a good safe place to leave the van, to explore the surrounding country.

We stayed one night here and the cabin was good. It was a small cabin with 4 bunk bed, a queen bed and a kitchen. Due to space problem we cooked outside the cabin also.

Pro:
1. Clean cabin
2. Amenities are renovated and very clean
3. Customer service is good
4. Mattresses were reasonable
5. Swimming pool (cold) good in summer
6. Nice A/C
Cons:
1. Door lock was not worked properly
2. Not enough space in kitchen

Note:
1. Shower 20c/3 min. This is for water restrictions. Water is very difficult here so don't waste water. We finished our shower within 6 min i.e 40 cents. Don't stop the shower before it stops otherwise you have to put again another 20c.
2. Too much flies in summer so close the cabin properly

Room Tip: Book A/C cabins

we stayed here on our way to Alice Springs and on our way home at xmas time. The temperature at xmas is very hot and we were given a shaded powered site which was fantastic. The shaded sites are actually under shade cloth (not trees) but is such a great idea and in the heat it is a godsend. Only staying 1 night on the way up we were able to just put half our camper trailer out to sleep as we were under cover and protected from the elements. The shower/bathroom facilites are the best I have ever seen in a carvan park - ever. You pay 20c for a shower but they are the cleaniest, newest showers around. Credit to the owners. The camp kitchen is great also with toaster, kettle, fridge/freezer. Pool is different in that it is undercover, like in a huge wheat silo but refreshing at the end of the day. A bit more area outside the pool would be nice as you feel like you are sitting on top of other people. Also recommend Old Timers Mine - very good.

Everything in this park is new and really good. The amenities are flawless (you have to pay for the shower, 20c/3 minutes) so are the laundry machines and dryers. We didn't use the pool and the kitchen, but it all looked good. Within a short walk you're on the main street where there are shops and restaurants. A really good place and value for the money!

Noting this is Coober Pedy the Holiday Unit we stayed in, Black Flag, was perfect for the 4 days we needed. not a lot of choice in the area if you want self contained.
It was well set up with nice kitchen and main bedroom, with bunks in the passageway to the main bedroom.
This unit was in a corner so nice and quiet.
No complaints whatsoever and would stay there again.

It was the third day on the road for us when we arrived at CP. What a odd but amazing to see town... 3 months later and our road trip has nearly come to an end and the town tour we did with Rudi out of the Big4 is the best paid attraction we did.....
