“Wonderful shower/toilet facilities”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 June 2014

Stayed here one night recently, sadly on the first night of school holidays which made for a crowded noisy campground. However on a less busy night this would be a good place to stay with the very best bathroom facilities we have seen in a caravan park in a long time. Camp kitchen is adequate but not completely enclosed and very draughty. Sites are gravel but this is Coober Pedy and nowhere in town has grass so this is normal. Similarly shower water is paid for, but this is the same everywhere in town and it is excellent quality water and very cheap (20 cents for a generous 3 minutes). Sites are small with little or no physical barrier from the next site so every bit of sound from your neighbours carries.

Room Tip: The drive-through sites were bigger and set a little further away from the main area, so possibly le...

To start with this is NOT A BIG 4 CARAVAN PARK ANY MORE. We stayed 2 nights. I note other people complain that it is gravel and no grass. What do you expect for this area with water at a premium price. It did not worry us. The amenities were lovely and clean. We stayed on a ensuite site. It was quiet which was good. The pool is under cover and quite cold when we were there..would be a very welcoming swim in the height of summer! We would recommend this caravan Park to stay at. I feel sorry for the owners who have tried to upgrade facilities but guests keep stealing things. They do give a 10% discount to Big 4 members. It is an easy walk up the main road to shops and restaurants.

We were very impressed with this park, smooth check-in, friendly and sincere greeting by the owner, we were given a site exactly as we had previously booked. Incredible showers, camp kitchen and all impressively clean. Coober Pedy is a town more than just a stop over, we were told about Rudi's famous tour before we arrived, booked in and found it was more than we expected so we also did the Breakaways Sunset tour as well, absolutely magnificent as advertised.Rudi certainly lived up to his reputation and was another 'gem' in this colorful and rugged town, very Aussie with all its cultures and nationalities. We found the other campers here to be helpful, many we met were regulars to the offerings of Coober Pedy. Very handy location to the shops,Pizza Bar and Underground Restaurant and Bar, all of which were as special as this Park, and Rudi. We want to say...Do yourself a Favour!!... and experience this Oasis in a desert and do the Tours, meet the people and pamper yourself in a hard landscape full of many wonderful offerings as we experienced while are traveling through to further adventures.

Room Tip: Consider night trips to the amenities when camping in parks

After our disgusting experience arriving and thinking we were booked into the Big4 stuart range it was greatly appreciated to relieve a genuine warm welcome at Oasis. We were weary and tired and it was really nice to have such warm hosts. We had a water site which we were able to drive thru and stay hooked up.Secure gates which are shut late at night enabled us to get a restful sleep, park was quiet at this end of town away from noisy locals. The best toilets and showers we have ever had the pleasure of using in our travels, the little touches and considerations made us feel at home and were much appreciated. Exceptionally clean and refreshing! Free pay TV as well in the games room was an unexpected surprise. Showers were 20 cents and we didn't mind this considering we were in a desert even though it was very green at the time, these were three minutes because we timed them to check the accuracy. This park unfortunately is no longer Big4 and doesn't compare to the other shameful park in Coober Pedy but our membership was till honored which goes a long way if your traveling on a budget, we would pay full price for this park without membership as it was superior and has class and was respectful, welcoming, clean and inviting. We will be recommending this park to all the fellow travelers we meet during our holiday. A very interesting town, need two days to explore all its hidden treasures. 10 out of 10

Room Tip: make sure you arrive at the right park lest you get abused

Had a one night stay at the Oasis caravan park in coober pedy on a recent road trip. Coober pedy is hardly a holiday destination and by road it is a long way from anywhere. So to be warmly greeted by the owners and to then enjoy the clean and functional facilities was a really good way to end the day. If you are camping or caravanning then this place ticks all of the boxes. More than happy to recommend.

We first booked into Big4 Stuart Range and found it very deceptive, it all looked good until we got past reception,we weren't told the pool did not work, the campground was tacky and unkempt.Unemptied rubbish bins stank outside the kitchen, 2 minute shower was actually 1.40seconds for 20cents and was cold, water drained out the campkitchen sink before we had washed our dishes, also cold.Showers flooded out the amenities. It was also confusing to work out which organization this park belonged to, we left in disgust and went to the Oasis, what a wonderful Park, hosts were very helpful, amenities roomy, clean and elegant. Park was tidy and maintained, the pool was great! Hot Showers were 3 minutes for 20 cents, we also received member discount. We extended our stay and will be back.We recommend this oasis to everyone wanting to visit Coober Pedy, a welcome relief after the let down at Stuart Range.
