“This oasis is the place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 February 2014

We have just returned home from a 5 week desert journey that began staying at the Underground Bed and Breakfast. We are still talking about our wonderful experience. The memories extend from delightful underground bedroom, including wine and chocolates, to the well equipped adjoining lounge and kitchen, to Ken's relaxed and informative tour of Coober Pedy and the local area. Ken's colourful stories of local legends added unique colour and understanding of the challenging life in the opal fields. Ana's hospitality is legendary and we appreciated her genuine interest in us. We have been to Coober Pedy twice before but this was the best....if you are there at the right time, you might even get to share Ana's delicious home grown grapes. If you love opals, talk to Ken who has a beautiful collection from his many years as a miner. We'll be going back.

Room Tip: Every room is great - ask Ken and Ana to help you decide what is best for you.

My wife + 3 primary aged children and I spent a couple of very hot days here recently. The underground accommodation was always very cool and a lovely respite from the heat. It is well set up with basically a full kitchen and came supplied with bread and continental breakfast which was restocked daily. Everything was very clean well appointed and taken care of. Our area had the potential to House another guest as well, it was empty when we were there but I suspect would definitely have changed the dynamic if it was occupied. Overall it was a lovely Oasis in the middle of Coober pedy.

When passing through Coober Pedy this time we wanted to stay underground (as you do). We have no doubt that this is the best place in town. It is cool, extremely homely and a lot of attention to detail has been put into the décor. Ken & Ana definitely make you feel like you are family that has come home for a holiday! The kids loved the place - it was definitely the highlight of a top to bottom of Australia trip as far as accommodation goes and is something we'll all remember forever. There is a complete kitchen as well, better than some of us have at home! Definitely recommend it to anyone travelling to/though Coober Pedy.

Our family spent two night with Ken and Ana in early January and had a fantastic time. The rooms were absolutely gorgeous, the kitchen and living areas really well appointed making everything relaxing and easy. Ken and Ana are wonderful hosts and there recommendations for eating out (Tom and Mary's) and what to do made our short time in Coober Pedy a memorable one. If you are passing through a Coober Pedy make sure you stay here!

Ken & Anna, the hosts of this amazing underground wonderland of everything one could need for a short or long stay! Entertaining couple to say the least, but won't give too many details as this may be an expectation for all travelers!
Accommodation was not just lovely but all encompassing...we wanted for nothing! More beer, milk, bread, butter etc in fridge than you regular b& b... Equipment available to cook with was great quality ( not the crappy pots/pans at your usual stopover)ample quality wine glasses etc
We cannot say enough about the hosts or the venue, only that we wished we could have stayed longer!
Bravo Ken & Anna (the Italians send you their thanks too)

We arrived in Coober Pedy on 1 January 2014 in the heat of the summer and this was a true oasis! Ken and Ana are fantastic, amazingly hospitable and helpful. They make Underground Bed & Breakfast a unique experience: an underground accommodation (a really wonderful experience), a cozy, clean, quiet and comfortable place like very few (if any) in the world! We have no doubt that this is the best possible accommodation in Coober Pedy. Moreover, this is a place you have to see and experience at least once in your life! We already have plans to return there when we'll have another holiday :-) Strongly recommended!

Room Tip: Let Ana or Ken what you'll like and it is all good!

Ken and Ana are amazing hosts. They indeed have a beautiful B&B. It was a perfect place to unwind after a long day of driving from Adelaide on our way to Darwin. Modern stylings and decor. Extremely clean and well maintained. Will definitely stay here again next time we are in Coober Pedy!
