My boyfriend and I had found Wayne Borrett via well documented comments on tripadvisor, which is why we decided to have a try, and for sure, we had no regrets at all !! Visiting Coober Pedy and the surrounding authentic Outback was THE highlight of our four-week stay in Australia, and made our extraordinary trip just unforgettable, just too good to be true ! And that is said without exaggeration, because with Wayne Borrett, you rediscover the true meaning of "unconditionally sharing your passion for a place out of this world". I'm not repeating the details of Wayne's programmes, because they have been extensively described in other such reviews. I'll only add that Wayne is not just a guide; he's now become a genuine friend in spite of the distance, and you'll soon realise after spending half a day together, that it is as if you had known him for a long time. Have a great stay in the Outback with Wayne and Arid Areas Tours, it's well worthwhile, and you can trust the worldwise keen Frenchie traveller I am !

Wayne was amazing and very knowledgeable. Stopped regularly so we could take photos on the way to William Creek and Lake Eyre. He put on a lovely lunch for us at Lake Eyre and even had a huge water container on hand so we could wash our feet, after trying to walk on the lake.
If you do this trip after rain and want to walk on Lake Eyre be prepared for a lot of mud!
Also don't forget to take fly nets.
We had to change our bookings several times, and Wayne always responded to our emails promptly and he was most accommodating with our changes. His eyesight is great too, picking out local flora and and a bearded dragon beside the road.
Thanks heaps Wayne for a wonderful trip, we will always have great memories.

Wayne was beyond wonderful. Showed my friend and I around the area; the opal mines and The Breakaways. He even showed us around the town, just because he loves the place and wants to show everyone how unique of a town it is. He is very knowledgeable about Coober Pedy, having lived there for a long time, and chooses the most authentic places to go so you can get a genuine feeling of the town. Was wonderful, would recommend to everyone going through. Much nicer than a bus tour.

Booked a day tour down to Lake Eyre with Wayne from Arid Areas Day Tours. Wayne knows his back yard well and was very generous in sharing his knowledge of the area as well as being very flexible in accommodating any detours we wanted to make.. Great at telling stories to entertain and educate, Wayne clearly loves showing people around this beautiful region of Australia! A magnificent guide and ambassador of the greater Coober Pedy area, well worth booking a tour with him if you can!

Our driver, Wayne, took us on two tours. One of Coober Pedy and Breakaways including dog fence and the other was to William Creek and Lake Eyre. We found these tours excellent. Not only was he able to answer all our questions and provide loads of information, he was also able to take us to his own mine so that we could do some noodling where we actually found some small opals. He also had some very funny stories to tell us about places that we visited. We would definitely recommend Wayne and Arid Area Tours to all our friends.
