We did not arrive in CP until approx 10.30 pm and had organised for the key to be left in the door. It was an extremely hot night and we were disappointed that the staff didn't think to turn on the air conditioning for us before our arrival. The room was stuffy and the small air conditioner took hours to cool the room. The furnishings were dated, and the linen, especially the towels need replacing. We attempted to have breakfast at the crystal cafe, but staff had covered up the buffet with tablecloths about an hour before it was meant to close. Whilst we were happy just to have a room for the night, we couldn't help but feel we had over payed for the privilege.

I agree there is not a lot to choose from in coober, but next time i'll try somewhere else. For us it was a 2 star experience for the price of 4. For general comfort/ cleanliness etc. i'd give 2 stars, but because we left feeling like we'd paid way too much, i'm dropping down to one. Next time, we'll go a bit more low-brow, expecting similar for a fairer price.

Room Tip: try elsewhere

There is not a lot of choice of accommodation in Coober Pedy, and this looked to be one of the better hotels if not the best. The underground rooms were quite an experience, clean and equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, fridge and mini bar if required. We did have a problem with the pre-paid breakfasts but this was not the fault of the hotel being more the company we booked through ie Hotels.com. The staff at the hotel were all very friendly. If I visit Coober Pedy again I will certainly stay here.

Youre in Cooober Pedy... there aint too much to pick from. This is probably the best. There isn't no Sheraton nor a Westin or similar this place is about as good as it gets. Don't have high expectations, just take it for what it is. It was reasonably clean, has a tv and coffee making facilities. The room is very big and the bathroom was huge (I assume a bath may have been removed). All in all, remember where you are. It isn't going to be amazing. It's a bed.

$250 for a ground floor ("underground") room, with hair all over the bed, a torch that did not work and to be woken up all night by the ppl above us and by ppl in the underground bar was our experience. Highly recommend not staying. On arrival the man at reception had no conversation skills and was not helpful. When this was feedback to the staff they offered a free breakfast... Of stale bread and horrible coffee!

Our Underground Room was well appointed, very clean and comfortable. Carved in to the side of the rock with the door leading to the carpark is not true underground accom, but gives the feel with a constant temperature, total darkness and silence! Friendly helpful staff and a great location in town make this a perfect stop over! Don't forget to visit the Dog Proof Fence and The Breakaways. Also a special mention to the couple that run Faye's Underground Home!

This is a beautiful hotel. The room we stayed in is an actual dug out under ground room.
Very large and clean and the beds are very comfortable. The rooms are dark and quite as you expect for a cave so they make for a great nights sleep.
Big spacious bathrooms with nice toiletries.
Tea,coffee,iron, hair dyer, tv available.
The umberto restaurant is great as well. Lovely friendly service, good sized meals and nice ambience. Food is delicious with a good wine selection.
We really enjoyed our night here and would definetley come back.

Room Tip: A cave room is a great experience.
