Enjoyed the short film explaining Coober Pedys beginning, some great fossils housed here and you can take a short tour through a dugout. There are also some beautiful opals in lovely settings to be bought here.

Jimmy actually dug a large part of this mine and having worked the fields since 1963 had great first hand knowledge. Catherine took time in the shop to explain all we wanted to know about opals.

We spent a small amount of time looking through the museum and I was most impressed with the archaeological displays. Visiting the gift shop at the end, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and made it a positive experience. Well done.

Thanks Ned for a great tour of town and the mine museum. Well done on adjusting the tour as the roads to the Breakaways was closed. Your wealth of information is fabulous, very informative and personal accounts. The churches were also beautiful to visit!

We wandered into the museum and were very fortunate to be able to join Rudy on one of his tours. He is a local legend and how lucky are we to be able to hear all of his stories about the town, opal mining and life as a miner himself. Highly recommend this tour!
