The food is absolutely delicious. Its all about the quality of the food and thats its local and fresh. The staff are just lovely and were under pressure when we were there but kindly attentive. Its a comfortable place and whilst its not fine dining room style, it doesnt detract from the flavor of the food at all. I have dined in some of the finest places the world has to offer and I can honestly say that the rib eye and marron dish I had is one of the most memorable meals I have ever had. I would invite all to try it purely for the food and flavours. If you are after a fine dining experience then this isnt for you probably.

This restaurant is pretty out of the way, down a sometimes wet, pot-holey road. So you'd either have a 4WD or really really want to go there. We were the latter.

Point to note: they stop serving lunch at 3:30 with last orders at 3:00. We thought we were fine comning into a not very full restaurant at 2:30.

Point 1: The seafood platter for two was pretty good, plentiful, variety of hot and cold marron, prawns, scallops, ciabatta, salad and fruit. The dipping sauces didn't quite work for me. They taste ok in their own right, but a bit heavy-handed with the seafood. The lime-chilli was pretty good though.
Point 2: We waited for just about an hour for our food to arrive. No explanation. No offer of something to appease our hunger. There were 5 tables waiting for food. We were the second in line and the last to be fed. Even the italian couple who walked in 20 minutes after us received their seafood platter before us. Completely unacceptable.
Point 3: My first glass of wine was only barely filled to the watermark line. This in a winery where the product is virtually no cost! Very skimpy. It certainly didn't see the hour out! You would never see this in a winery-restaurant in the Barossa or McLarenVale!
Point 4:see the photo. The claw cracking implements have seriously seen better days. Rather off-putting from a hygiene perspective.

If you're going to charge top dollar and appeal to the tourist market, you need to get the basics right. I wouldn't bother trying them again.
Instead go to the Ozone and have a bigger seafood platter without the drive and without the hassle.

Take time to learn about the marron - they have an area all set up with marron in various sizes. The marron are black but some of them have a strip of blue on them. We enjoyed lunch here with a bottle of the Two Wheeler Creek champagne - a very relaxing afternoon. We came back a few days later to buy some fresh marron to cook back at our accommodation - Snellings View, sensational. I'm fairly certain they ship the marron around Australia.

Food was delicious and service in the restaurant was very friendly. Enjoyed the marron dish which was split in half.

Would return again!

We went in to Andermel Marron on our way back from Flinder's Chase National Park. Seafood platter was good (if a little on the expensive side) and the marron were splendid. Kids portions were plentiful. Staff and service were lovely.

The viewing of the marron holding pens was informative and the produce on sale also great (lemon myrtle sauce and pickled grapes absolutely excellent).

If you're on the island anyway, then seek it out.
