We recently stayed 3 nights at Bendalls, and found it welcoming and excellent. Room was spotless, and the old bathroom and shower, work a treat. Breakfast supplied, is highlighted with Karens homemade jams and preserves. Would happily stay here again, if we can get back down there.

A stay at Bendalls is a step back in time - Karen and Roger are proud of their heritage home and they have taken considerable effort to preserve the past while providing their guests with modern conveniences and comforts. Our room had lovely antique linens for the very comfy beds. A nice table to have our breakfast, a flat screen TV, a portable heater ( we needed it to ward off the chill) are examples of the many amenities provided.

The shared bathroom was NO problem as, except for one night, we were the only guests - i loved the old fashioned claw tub - but there is a modern shower fixture as well. Karen has placed baskets of toiletries and lovely soaps ( or maybe it was Roger - as he was the one who did our laundry!) The bathroom also has a lovely heat lamp to keep you cozy.

And they take good care of your health. Wonderful organic coffee, fresh eggs, wholesome breads, and the BEST jams and jellies ever - mostly made by Karen ( they have small jars for sale and believe me even if you have to cart it overseas - buy them!!)

There is always a basket of fruit out - as well as a cupboard of teas, coffee, cocoa, honey, Vegemite, etc - it is a well stocked larder. I have to say the apples I had were the most delicious I have ever tasted - and why not - they were from their own tree in the back yard.

Karen and Roger are caring and kind folks - they care about the environment, and about their guests, and they make Hobart and must on your Tasmanian adventure.

We had a lovely stay at Bendalls, it was quiet yet close to the city and on an easy walk through interesting night life and restaurant area from the city. We got all the assistance we needed with our plans from our hosts plus more. The bus to MONA in one direction and Salamanca Place in the other made Bendalls very conveniently located. The fresh fruits and jams from the orchard made us feel at home and there were lots of lovely settings to sit and enjoy the views across Hobart.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Bendalls in April for 2 nights, and it was wonderful. I was disappointed we didnt have an en suite and a shower in the bathroom, as I have a dodgy knee and it was difficult. Karen was very helpful and friendly and I loved her apricot jam, thank you

Eve & Peter
We stayed 2 nights here in May and were very happy with all the amenities and all the personal touches .We loved all the books , maps and info we could read in the bookcase in the hall.
The old world quality of every object makes things interesting. Fantastic comfortable bed .
Every detail was lovingly attended to . There is a lot of old world charm in Hobart and this B&B reflects that.
Thanks to Karen & Roger we had a great stay

We recently stayed with Karen and Roger and were delighted with the rustic charm and grace of Bendall's. If you are easy going and don't let a shared bath bother you, this is a wonderful spot. It was no problem sharing the bath or even fixing our own breakfast. The charming hosts provided a wonderful stay. You will enjoy it also.

Room Tip: Bed size is only matter to choose.

A friend and I have just spent four nights at Bendalls. The owners have tried hard to recreate the house as it might have looked in Victorian times and are happy to tell you of the history of the house and how they went about renovation. Karen and Roger are committed to living sustainably and a spin off for their guests is that much of the fruit provided for breakfast comes from their garden. Guests put together their own breakfast from generous supplies of eggs, bread, assorted cereals, yogurt and fruit. The rooms are beautifully proportioned and as each day went by we felt more and more at home there. The weather was very hot, reaching 36 degrees one day, but the thick sandstone walls kept the house beautifully cool. The beds are extremely comfortable and the rooms are quiet.

We had a hire car, and there was plenty of nearby street parking. Sometimes we took one of the frequent buses to the city (about every 10 minutes, with a 15 minute ride to the waterfront.) There are many restaurants about a 10 minute walk away. I can thoroughly recommend Bendalls to anyone interested in a quiet, comfortable and homelike base from which to explore Hobart and its hinterland. We absolutely loved it.

Room Tip: There are only two rooms. One has a queensize bed, the other two singles.

Thank you for your kind comments. Bendalls is a beautiful house and the beauty of thick sandstone walls is that they keep rooms deliciously cool in hot weather and warm in cold weather. I like to find out what preserves guests enjoy and provide this for breakfast and am so glad you enjoyed my preserves and jams.
