Well worth the visit, the volunteers are very willing to assist. Good to see the amount of historical preservation. A recommended visit

My 10 year old son loved this Museum - we spent about 40 minutes reading about the ships and whaling of Tasmania. The old men at reception were so friendly .

I learnt so much from going to this museum. I have no interest in anything nautical but this place makes me want to.
My only criticism is that the models are great but the history of the models themselves is missing EG who made the model? How old is it?

Thank Jessica G

Really well maintained museum with very diverse exhibits and friendly staff. Highly recommended for a visit along with the history museum across the street.

The Maritime Museum is well worth a look it takes about an hour to do the tour. it covers Tasmania's Maritime history, from colonial history, through to whaling and the Navy. Very small and out of the way, but if you are a history buff, you will love it. I found it very interesting, and the cost was only about $10. Not real big, but still worth a look.

Thank Dan A
