As regular travellers to Hobart Tasmania we thought we would splurge and stay at the upmarket 4.5 star Wrest Point Tower.

The staff were professional and friendly and our room on the 3rd floor of the tower had wonderful views overlooking Sandy Bay, the Derwent River with the Tasman Bridge in the distance.

The room was relatively small, with movable furniture being a desk, 2 chairs, tub chair, round table and queen bed. I had to move the table to access my side of the bed. One glass in the liquor cabinet was dirty and I left this out to be replaced when the room was serviced.

We dined in the Buffet for dinner and the same venue was used for breakfast. On both occasions, the variety of food was poor. I believed they should have focused more on local produce which is in abundance in Tasmania eg salmon, oysters, cheese and wines. and if this increased the cost of the dinner buffet, so be it. We paid $35.00 pp.

Overall we were rather disappointed in Wrest Point.

Thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts about Wrest Point and I was dissapointed to read we did not live up to your expectations. On a positive note I was pleased to hear the team was professional and friendly and that the views were wonderful. The food offering in the buffet is always evolving so thankyou for your suggestions, we take all feedback very seriously and will look to make some adjustments shortly.

Kind regards

A nice hotel experience just outside the town centre. If you're looking for a proper hotel in Hobart, this is one of the few options. Overall clean and in a nice location next to the water, nothing particularly remarkable though.

The last time I visited this property it was tired and in need of a refurb. I recently visited the hotel on business and was pleasantly surprised with the newly refurbished rooms. They were very spacious and comfortable. I travel a lot on business and it is difficult to sleep when you are away from home. I slept really well at this hotel as the bed was very comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurants for both dinner and breakfast were very nice. Lovely views from the room. Overall a very good hotel.

We booked a "secret room" at a 5 star hotel in Hobart on Last Minute. The hotel turned out to be Wrst Point. When we checked in, they put us into Wateredge- a very old, motel style room about 300 metres of corridors and elevators away from Reception.
We immediately rejected the room and they "found" us a room in the tower. This room was acceptable but about 3 star in our view.
Breakfast was ordinary, the hotel decode was 1980.
I would look for another hotel.

Thanks for taking the time to pass on your thoughts regarding the hotel and I was saddened to hear you did not enjoy your time with us. The Tower rooms are AAA rated (not self rated) as 4.5 star however we certainly respect your opinion and realise they may not suit everyones taste.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Wrest Point Hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was on the 14 floor and had great views and was clean and tidy. However the yellow mustard walls took some getting used to. We thought it would be a good idea to have dinner in the Loft Bistro at the hotel one of 5 restaurants. Unfortunately it was not a good experience. The chargrilled squid had not seen a chargrill - it was more like boiled squid and almost inedible. The seafood platter was generous but the seafood was not fresh and appeared to have been frozen. Having said this our buffet breakfast in The Coffee Shop was very nice with a good selection. Overall our stay was good and the $5 valet parking was value for money.

Room Tip: Spend the extra few dollars and get a room with a view..

We stayed here for one night in the Water's Edge section and really loved the views. The customer service was fantastic - all the staff were friendly and helpful (even the off-duty ones). When we returned to the Hobart area a week later we opted to stay here again. This time we were in the Tower. Again the staff were super. A big shout-out to Shally in reception who was extremely helpful, courteous, and friendly. If we visit Hobart again we would most certainly stay here, probably in the Water's Edge as the view was spectacular.
