“Excellent historic and entertaining tour!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014

Starting off with a delicious meal in the bistro, then being entertained by very informative and interesting tour guides to hear the history of the Cascade brewery, finally finishing off in the beer gardens a few complimentary beers or ciders! What a great day out!

“Free Beer!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2014

We'd gone along for lunch. A lovely meal with a beautiful view of the garden. When 2pm rocked around, there was a call out for a beer-pulling competition. What a bit of fun! Up to 24 contestants get to pull a beer (and keep it) and the winner gets a prize. A fun surprise at the end of our delicious meal. The staff were chatty and fun and we felt warmed up on a very cold day.

“Even great for non-beer fans!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 June 2014 via mobile

I don't like beer. At all. But my husband loves it. And being a good wife, I was happy to tag along for the brewery tour (figured I'd at least get lunch out of it!) Very glad I did!
It was $25 each for the brewery tour which was about 1.5 hours, plus beer tasting with the three tokens they give you on check in.
Our guide Leigh was brilliant, very animated and told witty stories that engaged everyone in the group.
It was an RDO in the factory so there wasn't a lot going on but it was still interesting to learn about the brewing process and the fascinating history of Cascade Brewery and colonial Hobart.
We then returned to the bar for beer sampling. But the best news was that Cascade also makes three varieties of cider which could be exchanged for tokens! Woohoo - no beer for me!
There was a daily beer pulling contest which was great fun - plus gave me bragging rights over hubby.
We had a tasty meal in the restaurant - nothing amazing but it was good quality pub fare for $15 a plate after the tour. If you get a chance, try the stout ice cream - delicious and doesn't taste too much like beer!
Take some time too to stand in the beautiful gardens and enjoy the famous view of the brewery with Mt Wellington behind it.
We had a great afternoon (a lot better than I expected) - it's well worth making time for the Cascade Brewery as part of your Hobart experience.

“Very disappointed”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014 via mobile

We came here to find that we had missed the brewery tour times which was fine but the staff then looked at us as if we were a thorn in their side. We had to encourage them to allow us to taste some beer and even then we had to come to our own conclusions as to what was what as the barman was disinterested. We then went to buy from the shop and had to find someone to serve us. All in all. Very disappointed. I know it was midweek and winter but we went there to find out more about the place and all the staff were rude, unhelpful, disinterested and absent. Maybe it would be better on a weekend.

“Great Gardens and beer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014 via mobile

Caught the local bus up to the brewery for next to nothing. Not like the prices for public transport in Victoria. Beautiful gardens and friendly staff. We tasted their varieties of beer in a lovely lounge and if the weather had been a little warmer the garden setting looked perfect. A small but excellent menu was also available for lunch. A beautiful setting that was well worth the short trip.
