Owner description: The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens is Australia's second-oldest established in 1818. These gardens are home to the largest collection of mature conifers in the Southern Hemisphere and it also has the only subantarctic plant house in the world. A great restaurant and cafe is available onsite and it is a wonderful place to visit all year round. Visit our website for more information.

In winter, colours beautiful. Gardens are compact, we are from melbourne so use to large Botanical Gardens. But, Hobart`s are pretty with a lovely view of the Derwent River. Well maintained, really great 2 hrs and bring a picnic! Does have good restaurant with average prices.

Thank Lyn C

Having been to various Gardens around the world, I would not rate this one highly at all.
Uninteresting, and quite average.

The gardens are excellent with many interesting features. The restaurant has a wonderful outlook over the gardens to the river. Great for lunch or just Devonshire tea / coffee. Scones excellent as are the range of meals.

Beautiful like any Botanical gardens. Loved Pete,s vegie patch and even saw Tino at work The cafe and restaurant overlook the gardens. An easy walk from the city or catch the Hop On Hop Off bus.
