What a gem. top location with access to all the good stuff Hobart has to offer including Salamanca Markets and the ferry trip to MONA. Excellent value rooms with a restaurant quality breakfast included. The bar and restaurant staff are very friendly, helpful and professional and the manager great. Unfortunately the receptionist on a weekend shift was pretty offhand but so good was everything else, it didn't influence our overall experience.
Don't forget to have a meal in the restaurant and enjoy the ambience in the bar with its friendly locals and extensive range of beers on offer. For those wanting to stay up late the bands on Friday and Sat nights were great. Looking forward to going back!!

Room Tip: Choose the waterside if views are important

We stayed at this Hotel on a recent holiday in Tasmania. It was fabulous. Great food, great service good wine selection. Nice rooms. Breakfast included in tarif. They had live local music in the front bar and the singer was very good. The manager was extremely dedicated.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for the Waterfront room. We slept there the first night and it was a great room with a...

After visiting Hobart so often not sure why I've never stayed here before.
It's wonderful ambiance, price and opposite everything a tourist needs and even gives you free parking right on the waterfront.
Room's really tastefully decorated and bathroom top notch too.
Would recommend, but as it's in entertainment district, only if you use earplugs.

I want everyone to know, that if you are in Hobart, do yourself and whoever is with you, a huge favour, and visit this iconic and outstanding restaurant.
I have eaten in a lot of fine restaurants both in Hobart and around Australia and my meal here is always of the highest quality. In fact I would go as far as to say I have eaten the best meals of my life here!
Last night was no exception....new winter menu....and I thought the seafood risotto was so delicious, I had to tell the chef.
My husband had the beer battered fish and chips. The flake was so fresh and sweet. Melted in your mouth.
Alex, you are a fine chef and obviously have a great team around you. Thank you for the excellent dining experience. Shout out to Tyler our waiter...great job. Ever attentive and friendly. Had a great chat.
We will be back soon for another fine dish off the new menu. Cathy

We stayed at Customs House for 5 nights. The rooms are quite simple, perfect for people out and about not spending their days in there. It is above the pub so can get a little loud at night but you can ask about than when booking.
Across the road from Salamanca so get position for the markets and eating out. Breakfast was included into the cost and overall and really nice place to stay. The meals in the bar were rustic, yummy and really well priced.

We would stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the bar.

The Jubb’s are 5th generation hoteliers with owners Paul and Karen managing the hotel alongside their children Robert and Emily. Located 2 minutes walk from the Salamanca Markets, Brooke St Pier, Constitution Dock, Pennicott’s Tours, the ferry to MONA Museum and Hobart’s shopping precinct, we have the perfect location for your Waterfront getaway in Hobart. Customs House Hotel is an icon in Hobart. Built in 1846 for one of the early settlers, Charles Gaylor, whose name is carved into the front copping stone, it was named after Customs House (now Parliament House) next door. Affectionately called the “Chop House” it was, and still is, known for a good meal and a soothing ale. We offer 30 warm and charming accommodation rooms upstairs. All recently renovated with new bathrooms and furnishings, the rooms offer a touch of modern in a historic setting. ... more   less
