From the moment House Manager Salena answered our desperate phone call to her warm handshake as we said goodbye we felt completely nurtured and cared for, all in a stunning property with the finest of finishes. A boutique hotel (11 rooms only) the service was personalised, but never familiar. Our waiter that served dinner was an art student who was passionate about explaining the beautiful works of art that adorned every space in both the public and private spaces. Our breakfast, included in the tariff, was delivered to our suite as we really needed a relaxing start to our day. The freshly made muffins, biscuits tea and coffee that are offered 24 hours a day were appreciated. Fresh flowers in our room, the local cheeses served to us in the drawing room after dinner, the house blended tea left on our bed to retire with were just some of the touches that made this a truly memorable stay. We will be back!

Room Tip: We had one of the Garden rooms on the mid level which gave us sensational views to the sunrise over...

Thank you so much for your lovely review. I'm glad we were able to turn desperation into delight! I love that you enjoyed breakfast in your room and some of our wonderful array of local cheeses in the Morning Room. We're only too pleased to wait on our guests in any of the public spaces, and the Morning Room is proving very popular after dinner, especially now we have our new shagreen backgammon set. See you next visit.

Being greeted by the lovely Serina was the first indication that we were about to experience 'special'. The building itself is amazing, full of artworks, gorgeous furnishings and open fires. Our attic room did not disappoint and maintained the high standard of the reception rooms. Gorgeous ensuite with waffle weave robes and quality products. We hadn't planned to dine in-house, but the menu convinced us otherwise. A delightful meal and delightful service. I'm glad we left the 'best to last' in Hobart, and the Islington did not disappoint.

How kind of you to give us such a lovely review. It was our pleasure to look after you and I'm delighted to hear you enjoyed the Attic Room - it's the warmest room in the house in winter being right by the central fireplace, so cosy! I'm also pleased to hear you stayed in for dinner, a delicious winter's meal by the open fire in the conservatory, with perhaps a glass or two of beautiful Tassie Pinot Noir, is our recipe for the best night's sleep ever. And best of all, bed is only a short walk away!

We recently stayed at the Islington, just to get away from it all. It worked. We had a really relaxing stay. The hotel is very stunning. It has lots of artwork on display through out and there are well appointed rooms to relax in. Our room was simply beautiful. The service during our stay was without a doubt first class. You are invited to make use of the areas as though it was your own home. We had dinner & breakfast at the hotel & again the service & food was top notch.
All in all we had a really great stay.
Our thanks to Selina and her team.

Room Tip: All rooms are great.

Highly recommend this gorgeous retreat in Hobart. Cosy yet contemporary, the rooms are amazing & the lounge areas are wonderful for a fireside board game or book fest. All the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful & made sure we had a relaxing stay. The meals & snacks were really special. This is a fantastic romantic escape & we will certainly be back.

Even a short stay in Hobart can be incredibly relaxing, and it sounds as if you made the most of it! Board games by the fire, a good book, a fantastic meal and a little romance! Well, I think you've covered everything to perfection! Thank you and see you very soon.

Greeted by Serena on arrival, the most friendly hotelier I've met, given a tour of the divine heritage house which has an amazing artwork collection and wonderful outlook to Mt Wellington. Stayed in a garden room which is in the newer part of the hotel, which was absolutely wonderful. I would say that this is the best hotel and room I have stayed in in terms of service matched with design. Perfectly equipped, nothing was a problem for the staff, the design was wonderful. Breakfast was all local produce and high quality at that. The team is happy to book things like MONA for you. Located in a quiet residential area- If you want to be in the heart of Hobart, this is not the place for you (we did not ) , although it's only a 5 min cab ride to the waterfront anyway.

What kind words and we're very flattered to be judged the best hotel you've stayed in1 Our garden rooms are very popular, both for outlook and for the quiet tranquillity they provide. It's sometimes an advantage to be a little way out of town and on an acre of garden, although as you point out, the centre of Hobart is only a short taxi journey away.

This place is fantastic. From the welcome right through to our departure the staff were relaxed and friendly, the rooms were gorgeous and the overall property was incredibly inviting. It was so nice to have so many additional areas to sit and relax, especially in front of some lovely log fires. Brekkie was delicious and the finishing touches (bedtime tea) really made it a lovely experience!

It really is a 5 star experience, I would highly recommend this place.

Thank you for such kind words Kerry. I'm pleased you enjoyed the Islington Dream tea as part of our turndown service. It's made for us locally by the Art of Tea and is a favourite purchase with departing guests keen for a good night's sleep at home as well as here at Islington! I hope we see you next time you're in our part of the world. We will keep a spot for you by the fire.

Beautiful small boutique hotel with wonderful attentive staff. We stayed in a very comfortable and spacious Regency room. Loved all of the little extras such as the yummy biscuits and mini muffins with a cup of tea on returning from a day out around Hobart. Breakfast was fabulous - the conservatory is a great space - love the open fire. Lots of different guest lounges to relax in so you don't have to feel that you can't leave your room. Would defintely stay again.

Room Tip: Any of the rooms are great. The room we stayed in faced the street - no need to worry about street n...

I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and that you gave the sweet treats a special mention! We love to include these goodies, along with fresh fruit, espresso coffee and T2 tea as part of your rate. Our chefs do like to outdo each other with their baking - the current question in the Conservatory at afternoon teatime is who makes the nicest meringues? I do hope you can come again soon and help us decide!
