“A place with heart and soul”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 October 2013

When advised I was going to Hobart on business for a couple of days, my partner jumped at the opportunity to accompany me and extend our time there to include a weekend. As she has always loved non-standard (read "quirky") accommodation, I left that part of the itinerary to her. It was an inspired choice. We were also fortunate that prior bookings meant we had to swap cottages half way through owing to a garden wedding taking place in the grounds. Our hosts were gracious and helpful, without being intrusive.

Both the Gardeners and the Coach cottages were sublime - seeped in history but with interesting differences between the two. And, importantly, neither were in any way twee, which is always a danger for such properties. Staying at Corinda's - mid way between the botanical Gardens and Hobart's town centre - imbued our stay with a sense of Tasmania's heart and soul.

Just one minor note of caution. Corinda's is located about two-thirds up a steepish hill and my partner has some minor health issues. However, the ease of getting hold of taxis, and their low cost into and returning from Salamanca, proved a simple solution.

Corinda's Cottages rank highly amongst the traditional places we have stayed - anywhere in the world.

Beautiful gardens and such a comfortable bed. We stayed in the Servants quarters. So comfortable and very convenient to all attractions. Walked to waterfront, botanical gardens, Salamanca market. Very cosy.

A truly unique and romantic little love nest.
We enjoyed a long weekend relaxing in the Gardeners cottage. Its stylish and cosy with buckets of charm. The location is fantastic and very private. the hosts Wilmar and Mathew are very helpful and discrete.

Perfect for a romantic weekend away. Highly recommended.

The Big One, the larger cottage, has everything: stylish finishes, creature comforts and pretty much everything you need or want for a comfortable base in Hobart. The hosts have covered all the essentials and then so much more. We're a small family, with 2 children aged 11 and 13 who loved the look, feel and amenity, particularly the spacious attic rooms.

We spent 3 delightful nights in the Gardeners Cottage. The cottage was so cosy & the gardens so beautiful & tranquil that it was hard to tear ourselves away to do some sight seeing.
Mathew & Wilmar were perfect hosts & we appreciate the many special touches. Many thanks for the fresh flowers that were brought to the cottage on the very day of our wedding anniversary! Breakfast provisions on arrival were delicious & more than enough to last us 3 mornings.
Loved the fireplace, cosy bed, fine linen, antiques & attention to detail.
Perfect location to explore city centre, Salamanca, docks & botanical gardens on foot.
Would highly reccomend Corrindas Cottages over a stuffy/sterile hotel room any day!

An excellent accommodation in Hobart. After staying in all sorts of hotels all year round the hotel rooms have merged into one generic hotel room in my memory. I really can’t remember which room in which city I slept in. That can’t happen in Corinda’s cottages, the rooms, the décor, are unique. And while you could feel transported into another time there are still all the modern comforts, heating, Wi-Fi, etc.

Room Tip: sServant’s quarters is where we staid.ervents quarters is where we staid

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 March 2013

We spent 3 nights in The Coach House. It is very pretty, newly painted, quirky accommodation overflowing with antiques and ornaments. Wilmar brought fresh flowers every day and there were good breakfast provisions. However, it wasn’t a comfortable place to stay. Everything looked very fragile so we didn’t want to touch anything in case it broke. The ceilings are low upstairs and the bed squeaked; the stairs were slippery and poorly lit. The accommodation was long, narrow and dark and, with the shutters, which we had to keep closed as we were overlooked on every side, it was even darker. There was nowhere to put our luggage so we just left it in the middle of the living room floor. It was nice having laundry facilities but the washing machine kept blowing the fuses. There were ants in the bathroom and the bathroom taps were in an awkward position and were difficult to turn off. Parking wasn’t easy and we had to move plant pots around to try to fit the car in. Also, with folding wooden doors facing the road we were disturbed by noise from traffic, pedestrians and the tennis courts opposite.

Walking into and out of the town could be a problem for some guests because of the steep hill.

Room Tip: We would not recommend the Coach House but can't comment on the other accommodation.
