The only place I have ever seen Oliebollen sold. This was always a family tradition, and here it was being sold at the Salamanca markets.
If you have ever been to the Eumundi, Bangalow, or Byron Markets.....expect pretty much the same type of wares, but the food is fabulously different.

We wandered around the markets for hours. Great buskers, choice of food stalls, stalls and location.

There are of course fantastic local markets all across Tasmania. But, if you're in Hobart on a Saturday, Salamanca's fantastic! Heaps of vendors from all over TAS come down to Hobart, and the food stalls especially have great honey, cheeses, and produce. Can wander the stalls for a good couple hours as well as the shops at Salamanca immediately adjacent. Very family friendly, meet all sorts of folks from around TAS. Highly recommended.

it wasn't the first time l had been here & it won't be the last. There is something for everyone. The stall holders are a mind of information. My husband & l brought som Tasmania Oak salt & pepper shaker 30 years ago while in Tassie & they have become slightly sticky, one of the stall holders instead of telling me l had to purchase some new ones, told me how to remove the stickyness.

It's not often I find pescatarian food that I want to eat in a street market, but I certainly found plenty here. The boutique salmon sausages from Silver Hill were a delight. The market itself left me poorer and my wife more gladly attired than I arrived. This is a fabulous market with a very diverse range of stalls, from the eclectic to the traditional, with street buskers whose music was worth standing and listening to while quaffing the food delights. I bought a really nice wool fedora for a third that of big city prices. You can score well here. Plenty of fudge, nougat, wine and goodies travelled home happily from a great morning out. The 4 hours we spent browsing went really quickly. Give yourself plenty of time here as there is lots to see and buy.
