“Tried hard, failed to impress”

My partner and I went for a romantic dinner here. We were not shown to our reserved table & wait staff nervy and off-putting. Staff could not answer our questions about the menu. We were expecting more menu options for a tapas bar and were disappointed when we were told oysters were 'off the menu' on a Saturday night.
Started with bread, oil, butter & olives. Bread not sliced all the way through & no knives provided to cut it or spread butter. Butter had fine plastic film around it left on from the kitchen. Olives cold from the fridge. Pizzas fine - bases great and crisp. We'd eat those again.
Used entertainment gold card here. Dessert menu wasn't up to much, so we bailed and went somewhere else.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 October 2013

my partner and I went to charcoal on Saturday night we have been a few times now but were surprised to see a menu change for the first time. The menu is focused on Tasmania produce and was great had scallop and chorizo soup with organic quinoa all local produce, cider braised pork belly, finders island lamb cutlet with sauce romesco and braised cabbage amazing must try!! Then we ordered two pizza vegetarian and chorizo both very tasty. We also indulged in some dessert we had blue hills honey panna cotta with wild habiscus flower was beautiful. would highly recommend trying out charcoals new menu.

“Wine O'Clock at Charcoal - Tapas, Woodfired Pizza and Wine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 October 2013

Great place to catch up with friends after work or an escape from the city buzz.
We enjoyed a delicious woodfired pizza for a quick lunch - while power shopping in Hobart recently.
The premises felt new, modern and professional, yet comfortable and relaxed. I can imagine it very busy on Friday and Saturday nights.
I can't wait to go back.

“Solid, tasty food”

Really nice and very reasonably priced (but the beers are a bit 'exy' in price). Good service. Ambience is OK but worth it for the food. Give it a go.

“Faultless dinner on our first night in Hobart.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 September 2013

We ordered a pizza and tapas and couldn't fault any of the dishes. The pizza was great. Dessert was also good as were our drinks. We went back the next night and were glad we did. Would recommend this if you like pizza and tapas - though don't expect a huge selection of dishes.
