Stayed for three days whist visiting town. The owners are really helpful, the art and furniture are amazing, the location is perfect for a city visit. The bedrooms are not interesting enough to hang out in, but there is a lovely lounge and balcony area that feels just like a home from home.
I was a bit wary of the shared bathroom concept, but it is a good price to pay for getting everything else so right at a great rate.

Even though I could have stayed with friends on a recent trip to Hobart, I wanted to spoil myself and opted for a hotel instead. Staying at the Alabama, it felt like I got the best of both worlds. Not only did I have a beautiful spacious room to myself, the management treated me like an old friend. Kelly was a human Google of information about what there is to do and see around town, and Aeden took every opportunity to engage in animated banter about some of the better beer and drinking places around town. (He moonlights as a whiskey distiller so he knows his liquor) The location is perfect, a thirty second stroll to the Elizabeth Street Mall and less than five minutes to Salamanca. The rooms were funky with crazy, and crazy good, artworks adorning the walls. The big beds were uber comfy and more than warm enough to fight off the Hobart chill. The highlight would be the common area though. Retro couches are spread around the indoors section, an abundance of herbs and succulents surround a beautiful outdoor area that overlooks Liverpool Street. The price is spot on for someone who wants something more than a backpackers without paying for things like melted chocolates on the pillow or disposable shower caps. I extended my stay by another night just so I could stay longer at this home away from home. See you again soon Aeden and Kelly.

Staying at the Alabama is a must for anyone visiting Hobart and looking for a comfy bed, warm friendly service and an awesome common lounge with a great selection of beers. The owners Aedan and Kelly are full of suggestions on places to visit in Hobart and around Tassie and are always up for a chat they'll even rustle you up one of the tastiest toasted sandwiches you're ever likely to eat. Can't recommend this place enough, we'll be back!

I recently visited Hobart to see a friend of mine who works in Salamanca. I stayed at the Alabama Hotel and had an absolutely fantastic time there. The rooms and bathrooms we're clean and very moderately priced. The highlight however, was the beautiful common room and service provided by Kelly and Aedan (owners), who personally greeted me on arrival with offers of coffee, snacks and drinks... The balcony overlooking the Main Street of Hobart became the meeting piont for my friend and I, and we very much enjoyed the relaxed environment of the hotel, and delicious selection of beers on offer.

This hotel is MUST for anyone looking for a friendly and social, yet relaxed, place to call home while staying Hobart...

Thanks Kelly and Aedan!!

We just had one night at the Alabama, but we absolutely loved it. We were welcomed on arrival by one of he owners who showed us through the funky retro style of the place which is half way between a backpackers and a hotel. The room was simple but the bed was AMAZING, so comfy, plenty of pillows a lovely big crisp white doona...delightful to snuggle into after a cold day around Hobart. The communal bathroom was new and beautifully fitted out. Will definitely be recommending it to all my friends and anyone heading down to Hobart on a budget, but with a sense of style.

My wife and I travel to Hobart often for work. We came across Alabama Hotel while looking for something new. The hotel looks like it was a former hotel many years ago. The crew have done a great job remodelling it.

Nice rooms and great beds. Shared bathrooms with great showers.

Loved it vas will be back.
