Going on previous Trip Advisor reviews, we were, perhaps, expecting too much. Biggest gripe of all was the breakfast. Come on, the clue is in the name, it's a B&B so don't charge me extra for breakfast on top of the generous room charge and don't charge me $19 per main dish! Breakfast was available for a whole, generous 45 mins so if the guests want it outside that time, tough! I don't know what I might want to eat 12 hours in advance and even before I go out for dinner the night before so please don't expect me to be enthusiastic about the complicated questionnaire. On 2 out of 3 occasions we just couldn't be bothered and ate breakfast elsewhere. And then one is expected to make one's own drink (stale, mean portions of coffee in cafetieres) and toast. Where was the marmalade and local honey?
The welcome on arrival was luke-warm rather than effusive; the room was large and the double glazing kept out the traffic noise (we were at the front of the house) but why was there no desk and chair; why was there no decent mirror and somewhere to use a hairdryer other than the poorly lit little bathroom (so one of us had to wait for bathroom time while the other hogged the space); and why, oh why, did the bedside lights have black shades? In order to read in bed, one had to turn on the overhead chandelier. And the posts of the 4-poster blocked the view of the TV.
