A friend and I wondered into this cosy establishment due to problems with our camping facilities. Without any notice, and a christmas lunch for 25 people to prepare for the following day, Susan let us stay in a cabin for the night for whatever money we had on us (which was about one-sixth of the normal price).
The lodge was not only clean and well-maintained, it was also beautifully cosy and in a perfect location for the longest sunset I have ever witnessed in my life.
During our short stay we felt welcomed yet was still given privacy. I travel a lot and would definitely recommend this place to anyone that is visiting the area.

Room Tip: Any room is perfectly facing the beautiful sunset

This Pines Plains lodge is situated right in the middle of the northern section of Wyperfeld National Park. The lodge itself is a unique building which is constructed of native pine, with the quirky rustic feature of being able to see through the walls in some places, where there were small gaps between the logs. In every other way the lodge is lavishly decorated and very comfortable. The lodge is owned by Susan O'Sullivan and Adrian Meehan. The O'Sullivan family have owned the 300 acre Pines Plains since the 1920's at which time they also leased part of the area which is now Wyperfeld to breed horses. The lodge itself was built in the early 1990's.
During our stay we were provided with freshly baked bread and Susan set up candles and mosquito coils for us in the evening so that we could eat our dinner outside. The lodge has a fully equipped kitchen so that you can prepare your own meals. Adrian took us on a tour around Wyperfeld Park and explained to us the history of the park and showed us some Aboriginal canoe trees. Adrian also has an observatory where he is happy to show guests the night sky if it is clear enough to do so. All of these extras and more came without any extra cost to us. We came to Pines Plains for the accommodation but got an adventure instead.
The only small downside is that the bathrooms are not attached to the bedrooms, however this didn't bother me as the weather was mild so it is pleasant to wander around the veranda to the bathroom when needed.
