“Great Location”
Reviewed 18 November 2013

Bought a mystery hotel on Wotif - 2 bedroom apartment. Pretty cheap, not sure what the full rate is though.
Great location, within walking distance to some interesting bars, china town, Bourke Street Mall, theatres, museum, imax theatre, lygon st etc.
The room was spacious and clean, two bathrooms! balcony, even though it was overlooking a carpark, you are still able to get some fresh air.
Staff were friendly and we were able to leave our car in the park after we checked out.
Parklands are across the road
We didn't eat at the hotel as there was eateries nearby but the restaurant looked ok.
Convenience store located next door if you needed anything.
Good pool and sauna, but no spa.
Would stay hear again.

I stayed here with my mum and grandpa after being lucky enough to score a Wotif.com mystery deal for a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment as we were attending a concert at the Palais Theatre but all other accommodation was very expensive. We arrived at the hotel at 2pm and were greeted by KC who was very friendly and helpful. Our room wasn't quite ready so we waited for about 15 minutes in reception on the comfy couch. Although I had requested a higher floor apartment KC said that he had allocated an apartment on the 9th floor with a better view overlooking the gardens.
When we entered the apartment we were all blown away by the size because it was huge! The lounge and kitchen area were very spacious and the view overlooking the gardens were fantastic. The master beedroom with the ensuite was great as my grandpa could have his own space. We were able to cook breakfast in the apartment with groceries we grabbed from the supermarket right next door to the hotel. The location was great as we only had to walk a couple of blocks to catch a tram directly to Crown Casino and the Palais Theatre. There was no disturbance from outside traffic noise that you might expect being so close to the road. We would recommend this hotel again and all agreed it was one of the nicest places we've stayed. A great job by all the staff and we look forward to returning!!

We were greeted by white stains on the couch and carpets and also a lovely brown stain on one if the bath towels. Later in the day we discovered the air conditioning could not be controlled in the room. Instead we had to swelter in heat. It was that hot we had condensation on all the windows. Add to this the fact that the alarm woke us up at 7am on a Sunday and the result is this review. Avoid this place. There are better hotels in Melbourne that are cheaper, cleaner and cooler!,,,

Hi Rustler3000,

Thanks for your review of your stay, I am disappointed to hear it did not meet your expectations. I have addressed your concerns about the room cleanliness with our Executive Housekeeper and also our linen provider about the towel as all of our towels are rather new and this should not have happened. Apologies also for the alarm clock waking you up, this must have been set by a previous guest and our housekeepers do usually check these when servicing the rooms.

In regards to the air conditioning we have a centrally managed heating/cooling system which can then be controlled within each apartment. I am surprised to hear that it got so hot it caused condensation as Melbourne has only had a handful of days above 25 degrees so far this Spring so there could have been an issue with how the control was set in the room, had this been bought to our attention during your stay our maintenance team could have attended to it. All of our rooms do have large balcony doors and opening windows to allow fresh air in as well.

Thanks again for your feedback.

Kind Regards

I recently chose this hotel to celebrate my sister's 50th birthday with another sister and my 75 year old mother. The staff (especially KC, Rebecca and Rhiannan) were wonderful in accommodating my request for a room with a lovely outlook over the park and four single beds. My sister loved the room and I felt that the appearance of these rooms exceeded my expectations. They were clean, comfortable and spacious, including a balcony. With four women travelling together, it was great to have two bathrooms and a bit of space to relax in at the end of the day.The location was perfect-very close to the free tram service and Lygon St, a close walk away. The Terrace Restaurant is convenient for light meals, offering the best carrot soup (according to our mother)! You can prebook a hearty buffet breakfast in the hotel for a very reasonable rate. Staff were always pleasant and helpful, even offering a set of scales for luggage after our shopping spree.I will definitely look at staying here again.Thank you KC and the team.

Room Tip: Our room overlooked the park on the tenth floor. I could not fault it. It was quiet, clean and had a...

Stayed here for a couple of nights in October. This is the second time we have stayed here. The first was in a two bedroom suite which was big and comfortable with its own kitchen - great for a family stay. This trip was a suite with one bed. It is a very comfortable hotel, quiet and with excellent views over the park. Front of house staff are mixed - some are very friendly and helpful but a couple were far more interested in chatting with each other than providing assistance.

Town, Lygon street, the museum, Melbourne Uni are all within easy walking distance. The hotel has a pull in area for taxis which makes for more comfortable transfer of luggage.

Room Tip: Specify if you need an access room - I don't but got one with no negotiation offered. Ask for...

I read positives and negatives on this hotel prior to booking. I really have no cause for negatives! We originally booked a 1 bedroom apartment with Park view and were offered a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom on the top floor for a reduced rate on check in. We took up the offer. I have nothing but nice things to say. The reception staff have been more than helpful. The restaurant downstairs serves beautiful, well-priced meals and provides a lovely atmosphere. Mum and I enjoyed a 3 course meal each along with a couple glasses of wine each for under $100 combined! The apartment decor has been updated and looks lovely and the facilities in the apartment are great. The only downfall would be the bathrooms. They have been slightly updated, but could use a fair bit more. But most importantly, they are clean.
We r still here until Sunday and overall, really happy with the Hotel. I would definately stay here again.
