“Great location, immaculate little rooms with everything needed for a short stay!”
Reviewed 18 October 2012

First when we arrived at checked in, they gave us room 376, we got to our room without realizing that the fourth floor is a smoking floor so being underneath it really smelt of cigarettes, I immediately phoned the lovely man from reception and he had us upgraded to the ninth floor (room 961) which was wonderfully clean, spa and lovely shower, I could have spent the whole night under that shower! Also the king bed (two king singles zipped like most places) extremely comfortable. Room was immaculate. All up I'd have to stay its worth the money but if you're not a smoker then don't get a room on the third floor. I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Melbourne! Thanks 353!

We booked a three night stay at this hotel, specifying two twin rooms with breakfast for 5 plus a baby. The rooms were tiny and dark with old scratched furnishing (nothing like the website!!!). After complaining, we got a better room for our second night which was an improvement, but we had to pay more!!. One day the room was not cleaned and when we asked for this to be done they said housekeeping was contracted out and it was too late. We eventually got someone from the hotel to clean the room but they were unhappy and most unhelpful. Overall the staff were offhand and rude. Don't even bother going for the breakfast, the toasters didn't work and there was no service. This should have been a nice weekend but it was ruined for us and stressful trying to get some response from the staff. Avoid the place.

Room Tip: Find another hotel!!

Great location but too expensive for what it is. Continental breakfast is bad and if you want something hot you have to pay extra. Room on 5th floor smelling weed from people smoking. Beds are not that comfy and staff not really friendly. Overall an OK hotel but way too expensive for what they offer.

My sister and I spent 6 days at this hotel. We were booked into it by the Flight Centre, Perth WA. Our room was on the 5th floor, which we didn't mind at all. It was only at night when other guests were in their rooms that we discovered that the 6th floor was for smokers. Our room continually stunk of cigarettes. After complaining twice about it nothing at all was done apart from the room being sprayed once with air freshner. When we got home we asked at Flight centre if they knew that this was a "smoking" hotel and they said no they didn't. Our English rules have banned smoking everywhere indoors as far as I am aware but not Australia. This was the only down side to our stay there.

Room Tip: Don't let them check you into a room on the 5th floor

Having stayed at the Crown Towers and The Langham, we wanted to be more city central, but were worried about the standard of the smaller inner city hotels. No need to worry with Causeway 353. Location was fabulous, the staff were very helpful and informative. The room was spacious and clean and the continental breakfast was a bonus. We arrived in the evening, the laneway looked uninviting, when we went out in the morning there was a bustling cafe society in th same spot. Highly recommend this hotel and congratultaios to the excellent staff.

Room Tip: Room on the fifth floor wasquiet and easy to sleep in until 9.00 am without disturbance from street...

My Husband and I stayed for 5 nights last years. Very central to everything. Checking in was easy and the staff were efficient. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Breakfast was continental style and was more than enough to keep you going. Would stay again when in Melbourne.

We booked 7 rooms for one week from Bali to attend Indonesia Festival on Queen South Bank Square near Yarra River on mid September 2012 . This hotel has a great location in CBD , you have to visit Sambal Kampung near the hotel for asian food , their laksa and won ton soup very nice.

Also you have to visit china town for excellent chinese food .

We check in in the morning and reception finally let we check in early before check in time. Excellent job for Paul Koenig ( GM ) and his staff , thank you for good service.
