“Same food, new management/name.”

The original family sold this store and it is now known as Hot Chillis. Menu and food quality has not appeared to have changed.

“Great value and taste”
Reviewed 29 August 2010

We try to dine there whenever we are in Melbourne. They have great lunch and dinner specials as well as standard menu items. Decor is done in such a way to represent the many similar restaurants/stalls you would find in Asia. A gem of a place.

“Cheap and authentic”
Reviewed 23 November 2008

We live in Melbourne and our family and friends have been to Rich Maha at their original store in Vermont South and to their Melbourne City store many many times and enjoyed the food (without any gastro-related ill effects, so we do not understand the other reviewers rather terse comment).

The decor is very basic - formica/laminex tables and chairs, ceramic tiles on the floor, and some tired-looking pictures on the walls. However, we don't go there for the decor, we go there for the authentic Malaysian-Indian food.

Who would call a dish 'Chicken 65'??? Only the chefs at Rich Maha. Not sure of the origins of the name, but if you like a dry chicken curry spiced up with dried chillies, then this is the dish for you.

Generally, they vary their pre-cooked food offerings regularly and you can choose to have either a la carte or a thali. If you choose a thali, you have a choice of vegetarian or meat/vegetarian for a set price. Both allow 3 different curries with rice and samba. Their rice is briyani/basmati rice as is traditional with Malaysian-Indian restaurants.

Bottled and can drinks are average price, or you can have tap water in a chrome cup - just like in Malaysia.

Their other store is -
