Lots of freeway noise in the bay side rooms. Some of the staff are really rude, some are friendly. Overall the staff is not very accommodating. I highly recommend staying at other hotels nearby.

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere!

We transferred to this hotel after an horrendous experience elsewhere in Melbourne. From my first call to book the room through to check out we could not have had a better experience. The staff consistently went above and beyond. The room was amazing and so comfortable. We had a 2 bed suite with views across the city - just beautiful. Would definately stay again. Its convenient to everything and my daughters just loved being so close to DFO!

I am an Intercontinental Hotels group Platinum member and a Gold HHonors member but regularly chose to stay at the Crowne Plaza in Melbourne due to location even though it's a bit tired. This time I chose the new Hilton and was quite impressed, and will stay here for all future Melbourne visits.
The only things that prevent me giving the hotel an excellent rating is the breakfast buffet, extremely expensive for a "hot" buffet breakfast that is in fact luke warm at best....if you're going to put food in nice white dishes with lids for those business people who don't have time to wait for cooked omeletes etc, at least ensure that food is hot. My second gripe particularly for a new hotel is the lack of international power points. As an Australian expat who lives in Asia and stays in many Asian hotels with both local and international power points, how behind is it to stay in one of Melbourne's newest hotels to find only Australian power points.....come on guys, this is 2012. Yeh, we can all get adaptors and stuff, but gee in a new hotel ????
Finally, the old gripe of many business travelers.......Internet costs. $30 is rich for internet, at least the Hilton recognises most of us travel with 2 devices and does something nice by allowing a second device free of charge, but still $30 for nothing more than replicating some emails and newspaper sites and a couple of facetime calls to the family is a bit rich.
Otherwise, very good hotel, great rooms, spacious bathrooms, great size shower and although the breakfast I wasn't happy with I did eat in the restaurant one night and was very impressed.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write your review. I sincerely appreciate your feedback and have discussed this with my senior management team.

On behalf of the Kitchen Team I genuinely apologise for the inconvenience you experienced at breakfast. We have a great tool to check and monitor buffet temperatures and seems like on this particular occasion some carelessness slipped into our procedures. The procedure will be tightened and additional staff training will be implemented.

With regards to your comment about the electric plugs, we will take this into account in future refurbishments.

I have also discussed your feedback about the charges of the internet. We are currently in the process of addressing this with our ISP.

Once again, thank you for your time. We hope to see you soon.

We have had the pleasure of staying at Hilton South Wharf Melbourne on several occasions.
During these stays, we have been lucky enough to stay in every room type which the Hotel offers, including a King Hilton Guest Room, Relaxation Suite, Two Bedroom Suite and Yarra Suite.

Out of all of these I can highly recommend the Yarra Suite, which has a very large bathroom separate bedroom and large living area. The Relaxation Suites are also excellent but are just that little bit smaller, possibly better for a romantic weekend away though as the bathtub sits right near the window looking out over the Melbourne skyline.

As HHonors Members we have been lucky enough to have Executive Lounge access for all of our stays and this is something we can highly recommend, even at the additional cost. The evening drinks and nibbles are excellent and tend to set a good mood for the rest of the evening.

We have stayed at most of the other 5 star hotels in Melbourne, and of all of them Hilton South Wharf comes out on the top of our list. It is not located in the CBD which can be frustrating at times, however the quality of the hotel more than makes up for this.

Room Tip: Spend a little extra for executive lounge access, it is worth the cost...!

The hotel is very nice and modern. beds were so comfortable.. large bathroom. Staff were very helpful with information on trams, directions and taxis. the hotel is right next door to the dfo shopping centre which was handy and only a short work in to Melbourne CBD. Very pleased with our stay and would love to come back.

We were going to an event at the convention centre, which is why we splurged a little and stayed here. The location was perfect for us. The lobby was nicely decorated and had a fantastic Archibald art display which is worth a look.

The room itself was spacious and comfortable with all expected amenities. Bed was large and comfy although I'd have liked a choice of pillow as they weren't very supportive. The bathroom was nicely laid out with plenty of bench space.

Like many hotels, the lighting in the room was too dark. They could use a main light in the bedroom & shower but at least they had a cosmetic mirror with light in the bathroom.

Room service was really hit and miss. We had butter chicken that I couldn't even eat it was so bad but the burger and lasanga were great. They messed up our room service breakfast order and only gave us one fork. I've had better buffet breakfasts at some resorts but this one was pretty good. We ate at the Sotano tapas bar and although the drinks and food were good there was a 15 min gap bwteen bringing out my meal and the last one for the table - for a table of 6.

Thank you for your review.

I was pleased to read that you found the rooms spacious and comfortable & the bedding was to your liking. I genuinely apologise for your disappointment with Butter Chicken from the Room Service Menu and Breakfast. I have personally discussed your feedback with our Executive Chef.

We are always looking for constructive feedback to improve our product and services.

We hope to welcome you again soon.

Safe travels
