“Excellent on all fronts”
Reviewed 13 July 2012

Had a weekend here recently and was very impressed. This is a world cladd hotel. Firstly we were upgraded to a suite which resulted in sweeping views of the river and city. I had access to the executive lounge which was also very good. Great place to get a cup or tea or coffee - or a drink in the evening.
Rooms are big andvery comfortable.
Service was fantastic - very friendly and helpful staff.
Location is excellent - better than being right in the middle of the city - but easy to walk there if you need to. Also very close to Docklands and Etihad stadium. To get to St Kilda only takes 10 minutes in a taxi (or about $15) - or an easy tram ride. Sth Melbourne is also very close which is good for bars, shopping & restaurants.
Great stay - will be back!

Our delight started with being upgraded to a city view room and having the executive lounge included, followed by being given an early check-in fresh off our flight from the States. Sammi (I think that was his name) at the front desk could not have been more helpful, friendly and intent on our satisfaction.

The room was a good size with absolutely stunning views up the Yarra River to the CBD (it sits on the edge of it, across the river) from the floor to ceiling windows. It was so beautiful we left the cool electronically operated blind up at night so we could see the city lights. The bed was wonderfully comfortable and the desk had good room to work.

One and only one drawback for us: the bathroom looks great and is well appointed BUT it is closed off by a frosted door which lights up the room at night when the light is turned on. Also the toilet enclosure wall doesn't go to the floor, giving it a feeling of - and the same lack of privacy as - a bathroom stall. It all looks great, but if you crave bathroom privacy or dont want to wake up your partner, it's a concern.

The executive lounge was excellent - the views from the 4th floor windows are great and there is a deck on which you can sit outside (it was too cold when we were there). The breakfast buffett was massive, including a juicer with all the ingredients cut and ready to go (carrots, ginger, watermelon, oranges, etc.), as well as a honeycomb from which to harvest your honey for tea or toast. Coffee is with one of the 'pod' machines and available all the hours the lounge is open. We missed the afternoon and evening food, so can't address it. Based on breakfast, I'm sure it's wonderful.

One morning we had an early tour before the lounge was open. My husband went in search of coffee and the Caffe Cino wasn't yet open, either. When he asked where he could get a couple of flat whites, the concierge called room service for two complimentary coffees. Great wow factor.

Also of note, the turndown service included a scented item, a different one each night - a dried flower, sachet bag, small bamboo sphere, etc.. They are placed on the duvet or bedside table. My husband has a severe adversion to scented items so I had to get rid of each of them - one night we were able to decline it. I liked them, but he didn't. (I can only buy unscented candles at home!)

Plus: hotel location means you are the first drop off from the airport with JetBus and you are the last pick-up bfore the airport.

We loved the property, the appointments, the lounge, the staff was outstanding and the location was fine as it gave us nice walks along the river to the CBD and good dining options. It's perfect if you have an event at the convention center. We would - will - absolutely stay here again. Good on ya, mates!

Room Tip: Ask for a city view to get those stunning views up the Yarra River

second time we have stayed here and just as good. We had the relaxation suite which was really lovely with an awesome view out of the floor to ceiling windows and the bedroom and bathroom are really lovely. Very comfortable bed too. The breakfast was good too even though the food was not very hot when we told the staff they were fantastic and cooked us a fresh breakfast. Would be very happy to stay here again.

Room Tip: Corner suites are have great views

First up let me say this would be a 5 star rating if not for the location. It's modern, well kept, staff are great, breakfast is good and the rooms are really good. I've stayed in both a two bedroom and one bedroom apartment there and it was very nice on each occaision, the bathroom in the one bedder was really awesome.
The executive lounge is very nice as well, one of the largest I've seen and has great views. The property has some very good/quirky artwork dotted around (I love the piece behind reception) and the overall impression is definitely premium.

Expensive, a bit cold feeling. Views great. A little far from the city centre. Stayed in better for less money

I spend alot of time here and its by far the better of the two Hilton's in Melbourne. Great check in process, friendly staff, and nice rooms. What I dont get is the bar- its a baron wasteland typically and could be so much more. Interestingly, when it is busy its hard to get service. The gym facilities are good, but there is no sauna.
